Tuscola County Abstract/Tax Service Clerk
General Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Treasurer, the Abstract/Tax Service Clerk performs
technical accounting and assessing tasks related to the foreclosure process for property taxes.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities (illustrative only):
1. Prepare computations of costs for foreclosure.
2. Educate tax payers on Michigan’s General Property Tax Act and the foreclosure process.
3. Prepare and maintain spreadsheets and forms to accurately track expenses.
4. Prepare reports for contracted agencies.
5. Communicate effectively with legal counsel.
6. Keep detailed and accurate records for each parcel in the foreclosure process.
7. Maintain and follow the foreclosure deadline calendar.
8. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Must exhibit a meticulous level of attention to detail.
2. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, with an exceptional ability in Excel.
3. Must be able to provide professional and courteous service to customers of all backgrounds and socioeconomic circumstances.
4. Excellent problem solving skills required.
5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
6. Must pass a criminal background check.
7. Experience with BS&A software preferred.
8. Experience with tax collections preferred.
9. Experience with foreclosure processes preferred.
10. Knowledge of the General Property Tax Act preferred.
Rate of Pay: $19.28 Per Hour
