Working alongside the Superintendent, this position provides leadership in developing, achieving, and maintaining the best possible educational programs and services

Provides vision, direction, management and oversight for all aspects of the secondary, elementary and early childhood programs, including goals; budgets; Curriculum; student assessment; program evaluation; data collection and analysis; school improvement plans; and compliance.

Directs the planning and implementation of professional development opportunities for all staff

Leads and provides guidance for administration and compliance of state assessments, local nationally normed assessments.

Maintains current knowledge of effective instructional strategies and practices that support and enhance program effectiveness

Provide leadership in planning and coordinating committees such as District Comprehensive School Health Committee, Guiding Coalition, curriculum review, etc

Coordinate, implement and evaluate the selection of instructional resources and provide guidance concerning the selection and purchase of instructional materials.

Provide support and direction to administrators and staff for the development and implementation of instructional improvements.

Ensure continuous assessment and analysis of student achievement to help principals and teachers modify curriculum and models of instructional delivery.

Provides leadership, and coordinates all activities, in relation to the district mentoring program to include new staff orientation, professional development requirements, and guidance and support of building mentoring leads

Oversees the district early childhood programming, early childhood childcare and school age child care programs.

Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee.

Masters Degree required
-
Minimum 5 years administrative experience with work in instruction and curriculum development

Knowledge of and work within Professional Learning Communities

Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with Administrator Certification

SUMMARY
The work of the Director of Academic Services is to foster an educational environment which helps all students achieve at high levels. The Director of Academic Services is the key individual responsible for implementing both short-term and long-term district improvement plans, policies and programs for curriculum and instruction with the goal to continuously improve student outcomes. In addition, in collaboration with the early childhood team, they are to lead our early childhood center by developing, overseeing, and managing day-to-day operations of preschool educational programs.
