This position assists in performing the College's accounting operations and internal controls through monitoring and reconciling the general ledger activity for accuracy, preparing journal entries, assisting with monthly close, building of financial statements, audit procedures and special projects.
- Level of position will be determined based on experience and skill level.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Job duties for all Levels
- Prepares balance sheet reconciliations within 45 days of cycle close for cash, short-term investments, receivables, payroll, fees paid in advance, prepaid, suspense accounts and Jesuit's at Le Moyne. Requesting support from system responsibility owners to investigate variances.
- Books JE's, including subledger uploads from fundraising system and maintain Finance Operational Calendar and checklist.
- Supports with year-end close, preparation of financial statements, footnote and audit coordination, as needed.
- Supports the Finance team with system enhancements, documenting internal controls and implementing new regulations.
- Cross-train and support other finance department functions such as Bursar, Payroll, P-card and Accounts Payable.
- Supports the knowledge of the Le Moyne community on questions regarding ledger activity.
- Trains and guides student interns for accounting matters.
- May assist or support with monitoring and reconciling Advancement campaign reporting to the general ledger.
- May maintain the chart of accounts and budget officers and perform budget entries and adjustments.
- May support the gift suspense reconciliation and clearing with Advancement and Restricted Accounting.
- May be the primary on Finance@lemoyne.edu email.

Job Requirements:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required or Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 2 years of Accounting work experience.
- Professional certification (e.g. CPA, CIA) or pursuing a professional certification is preferred.
- 2-4 years of related work or audit experience, preferably in a college or university setting; experience should also include a strong familiarity with payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, grant, and donor fund procedures, laws and regulations.
- Proficiency in the use of computerized general ledger/payroll or ERP systems and Microsoft Office programs, notably Excel, Word, PowerPoint and SQL Server; experience with Datatel, Onbase, BaseCamp and Entrinsik Informer software packages a plus.
- Knowledge of IT system, process flows and structured query language (SQL). Experience in implementing new systems and/or system enhancements.
- Thorough understanding of business practices relevant to a private college or other complex not-for-profit organization.
- Superior interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a wide range of campus constituencies.
- Must be extremely detail-oriented with strong organization and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and maintain confidentiality.
