The American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA), headquartered in Bethesda, MD, who represents the vast majority of the estimated 18,000 podiatrists in the country, is excited to announce an opening for an Accountant in their Finance Department. This is a full-time non-Exempt position reporting to the Controller. This position is a combination of remote and in-office.
The accountant will assist in the day-to-day organizational activities that are important to the smooth operations of the Finance department and ultimately, to the association as a whole.
The work location is currently a hybrid of remote and in-office (Bethesda, MD). This would be ideal for a self-starter who enjoys working as part of a closely collaborative team, but who can also manage projects autonomously.

Job Responsibilities:
- Process APMA cash receipts, open daily mail to secure cash receipts, record and maintain daily check log, prepare the cash deposits via remote deposit program, provide reconciled cash receipts package to the Senior accountant for entry into the association management system (iMIS).
- Full-service accountant duties: Complete daily and monthly accounting/reconciliation process for APMA Educational Foundation, APMAPAC/POP, including accounts payable, cash receipts, investments, and inputting journal entries into the accounting system (Microsoft Dynamics SL).
- Audit liaison: work with the Controller and external auditors to ensure timely fulfillment of audit requests.
- Assist with administrative activities: including filing, record-keeping, mail distribution, ordering office and coffee supplies, and running local errands as necessary.
- A Bachelor’s degree is required
- At least two years of experience as a full cycle accountant
- Attention to detail and strong analytical skills are required
- Advanced knowledge of MS Excel is a plus
- Previous experience with MS Dynamics SL is also a plus
- Good understanding of accounting rules and procedures, including US GAAP
