Accounting Manager
At the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) we pride ourselves on how well we care for our members and business partners around the world. Our finance department is currently looking for a resourceful leader to join the team as Accounting Manager.
Position Summary:
The Accounting Manager will plan and direct the accounting activities for their respective team with the Finance Department.
What are we looking for:
  • Experience and success in leading a team of accounting professionals.
  • Five to seven years of increasingly responsible accounting experience.
  • Detail oriented, problem solver with effective communication skills.
  • Understanding with experience in application of modern and complex principles and practices of accounting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration or related field with a CPA license or master’s degree in accounting preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP and/or Workday.
Responsibilities:
  • Manage the accounting staff within the assigned team to include training, assigning workload, performance evaluations, and hiring.
  • Ensure internal controls and guidelines for accounting transactions and budget preparation.
  • Professional accounting activities include general ledger reconciliation, auditing, month-end close, and year-end close.
  • The creation and review of monthly, fiscal year, and ad hoc special reporting.
  • Monitor and balance various accounts to include verifying availability of funds and classification of expenses; research and analyze transactions to resolve problems.
  • Create or manage documentation needed for audits or internal reports.
  • Maintain current knowledge of organizational policies and procedures; federal and state policies and directives; and current accounting standards in accordance with GAAP.
  • Plan policies, objectives, or activities to ensure continuing operations, to maximize returns on investments, or to increase productivity.
  • Present recommendations to management on short- and long-term financial objectives and policies.
  • Participate in the annual financial planning and budget process.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
  • Performing other duties as assigned and required.

  • Full-time position available.
  • Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm.
  • This position is on-site only at our headquarters in Amarillo, Texas.
