We are looking for an Accounting Manager to join our Americas Team. The Accounting Manager will work out of our Americas Headquarters in Lake Oswego, Oregon. Relocation assistance is not available for this position; however, we offer a hybrid work environment and flexible hours. The Accounting Manager will report to the Director of Accounting and Finance, Americas and will manage a seven-person accounting team.

About You

To be successful in this position, the Accounting Manager must have at least two years of experience leading a team, a demonstrated knowledge of GAAP, and at least five years of experience in full-cycle accounting at a private company with a history of progressive responsibilities. This position will require global collaboration with the key stakeholders on the Controlling Team and across the organization in several different time zones, therefore a business-partnership attitude, excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as flexibility are of utmost importance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide coaching, feedback, and mentorship to the team of Staff and Senior Accountants and an Accounting Intern
  • Oversee all key accounting functions in the Americas region – Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Travel & Expense, General Ledger Accounting, Commissions, Payroll & Tax, and Automation and provide leadership and support to the team in these areas
  • Support the Global Company Strategy, Americas Expansion Plan, and the Business Support Ambitions through effective goal setting, adaptation to change, alignment with the key stakeholders, and continuous process improvement on the Accounting Team
  • Lead the accounting team to produce accurate, complete, and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end General Ledger closes of the US, Mexico, and Brazil entities ensuring compliance with GAAP, IFRS, and local laws and regulations
  • Prepare a monthly fluctuations analysis report for the Balance Sheet and Income Statement accounts with an investigation and explanation of significant balance variances
  • Review General Ledger account reconciliations, journal entries, and reports prepared by the team to support the consolidated financial statements. Build out new reconciliations and implement new processes as the company grows and accounting increases in complexity
  • Partner with the Global Controlling, Sales, and IT teams to design and implement an effective revenue recognition process in the Americas region
  • Liaise with the third-party service providers in Brazil, Mexico, and Canada to ensure proper accounting processes and controls are implemented and the local accounting and tax standards are appropriately understood and reflected in the entities’ reporting
  • In collaboration with the Global Controlling Team, design and implement new accounting policies and processes and document and improve the existing ones to ensure the effective functioning of SOX controls
  • Maintain the accounting systems in the region (Microsoft Dynamics, Concur, SharePoint, Bank of America, American Express @Works, etc.) and be the go-to for team’s questions on their use and functions
  • Manage special projects for the Controlling Team, including KPI development, process documentation, department goal setting, and team building activities
  • Manage the annual audit by providing timely requested materials and support to the external auditors
  • Maintain close working relationship with the Global Controlling Team at the headquarters in Denmark
  • Other tasks and projects as needed

Your Experience

  • Minimum five years of experience in full-cycle accounting at a private company
  • Minimum two years of management experience with a focus on employee development
  • Deep understanding of GAAP, familiarity with IFRS preferred
  • Active CPA license
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (lookups, pivot tables, complex calculations and attention to formatting)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to work cross-culturally
  • Business partnering and customer service orientation
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, effectively manage up, and lead a team
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics and Microsoft Power Platform preferred
  • Ability to perform under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and pivot among various tasks and priorities
  • Self-driven and interested in making an impact in a growing organization
