ACCOUNTING TECHNICIAN III/MEDICAID IMC I – AGING SERVICES
Description of Work
Employees in this class are responsible for independently performing bookkeeping activities such as accounts payable, general ledger reconciliation, monitoring budget lines, and report preparations in QuickBooks.
Maintains vehicle fleet maintenance and reservations for Department use by keeping excel spreadsheet updated monthly. Processes all departmental travel requests and reimbursements. Work requires the exercise of considerable judgment to ensure that transactions are in accordance with correct accounting and budget procedures and statutory requirements. Employees receive minimal supervision; work is reviewed for results and for conformance to policy (50%)
Additional Duties for this position include the same duties as above for the Aging Services 5013c (25%), and direct client assistance for Medicaid Application and MAC services (25%). The position will receive NCFAST training, MAC training, and active access to NCFAST Medicaid Roles for this purpose.
Program Support
Communicates with and provides technical support to both internal and external customers or employees by collecting and providing specialized information, answering questions, and assisting in interpreting and following proper accounting procedures; assists in training other staff in complying with proper procedures, rules, and regulations; performs special projects as assigned.
Follows Medicaid Application requirements/policy for programmatic services and provides MAC Services per state guidelines.
Experience Required
Associates Degree with two years of related experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Graduation from high school and demonstrated possession of knowledge, skills and abilities gained through at least five years of office assistant/accounting experience and considerable knowledge and experience in bookkeeping principle; or completion of a two-year associates or accounting degree, accounting, or business administration program with one year of experience as described; or an equivalent combination of advanced training and experience. 1 Year of Experience in Medicaid or State/Federal eligibility program preferred, or completion of
NCFAST training courses during probationary period of employment.
Salary
$29,264.90 to $37,011.52 commensurate on education and experience.
