Actuarial Analyst II – Property and Casualty (Remote or Hybrid) Job at USAA

Purpose of Job USAA is currently seeking a talented Actuarial Analyst II (Mid-Level) for our East Region Property Pricing team that will be mostly responsible for Pricing activities in the state of North Carolina. North Carolina is a large-profile state when it comes to USAA’s footprint in the US. There may also be some minor Florida-related assignments as well. Working on North Carolina pricing is a unique opportunity for as it will require the analyst to understand the North Carolina Rating Bureau (NCRB) rating structure and how USAA’s pricing is both similar and different from the bureau rates. Because of this, the analyst assigned to North Carolina will always have opportunities to solve unique but complex problems by tapping into their creative side within our rating software. This analyst will work directly with our Regional Actuary who covers North Carolina as well as with our State Manager who oversees all activities in North Carolina.

This position is open to working remotely or a Hybrid work schedule from the San Antonio, Colorado Springs, Tampa, Phoenix, Plano or Charlotte offices. The actual days onsite are determined between each employee and the employee’s manager.

Coordinates, prepares and performs actuarial analyses required to develop new products, project future results, reprice existing products, and/or determine financial strength. Under minimal supervision, performs moderately complex work assignments and problem resolution.

Primary Responsibilities:
Acquires and applies developing knowledge of the business, its products, and processes.

Utilizes actuarial modeling software for pricing, valuation, and/or risk management.

Enters data and tables, runs models, and generates reports.

May make adjustments and improvements to models, when appropriate.

Maintains proper price level, price structure, data availability and other requirements to achieve profitability and competitive goals.

Identifies critical experience areas to monitor and suggest timely remedies to correct or prevent unfavorable trends.

Identifies sources of gain and loss by product and assumption.

Resolve issues and identifies appropriate issues for escalation

Minimum Requirements: Minimum Education:
Bachelor’s degree OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree. (Total of 6 years without degree)

Minimum Experience:
2 or more years Actuarial/business/analytical experience + 3 CAS exams

Preferred Experience:
US military service or a military spouse

Prior experience working with North Carolina Rating Bureau ( NCRB) rating structure is a plus

Prior experience working with Towers Watson Radar software is a plus

2 or more years’ experience using SQL/SAS to query data quickly for reports and analyses

Autonomous organizational and project/timeline management skills

Demonstrated experience as a routine contributor (and occasional presenter) to staff meeting discussions

Compensation:
USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market position. The salary range for this position is: $66,300 - $119,500 .
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance or at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.

  • Geographical Differential : Geographic pay differential is additional pay provided to eligible employees working in locations where market pay levels are above the national average.
Shift premium will be addressed on an individual basis for applicable roles that are consistently scheduled for non-core hours.
