Position Focus:

Provides administrative support that helps ensure effective execution of programs, processes and/or workflows to positively impact goals and objectives in the assigned project areas.

The STEM Program Evaluation and Research Laboratory (STEM-PERL) in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at Yale University seeks an Administrative Associate to join our research team. Reporting to the Director and Associate Director of STEM-PERL, the Administrative Associate will contribute to the support of several grants from the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI). The grants fund three project types: program evaluation, theory-based educational research, as well as applied research which all seek to improve student performance, persistence, and inclusion in the sciences. The Administrative Associate will collaborate with STEM-PERL team members and faculty to help facilitate communication and research within our current grant-funded projects.
The Administrative Associate will contribute to the management of grant-funded research at various stages of completion in addition to executing tasks that progress project research goals. These tasks include creating and distributing surveys on software like Qualtrics, conducting literature reviews, facilitating meetings, and executing research activities. The Administrative Associate will be responsible for coordinating research projects involving evaluation of college STEM programs, implementing evidence-based teaching practices, discovery-based education, and researching the concept of trust in college STEM classrooms. The Administrative Associate will contribute to lab communications, research execution, and data management for these grants.

Essential Duties

1. Administers a department program, processes and/or workflows. Aligns with department mission and goals. 2. Works closely with department leadership and colleagues to help ensure success. Develops activities, monitors effectiveness, and identifies potential areas of improvement or change. 3. Manages administration including use of resources. 4. Conducts outreach and communications as needed. 5. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree and one year of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Skill/Ability 1:

Demonstrated ability to collaborate as a member of a team.

Required Skill/Ability 2:

Ability to execute research project protocols including literature reviews and survey distribution.

Required Skill/Ability 3:

Working knowledge of the education literature and capacity to expand knowledge.

Required Skill/Ability 4:

Ability to coordinate meetings and communications to collaborators and stakeholders.

Required Skill/Ability 5:

Ability to contribute to conversations on educational theory and practice.

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:

Experience in educational psychology (or an equivalent), college STEM education, social science research, and/or communication. Knowledge of Qualtrics, Google Scholar, Google Suite, web programming, and peer-reviewed publication preferred. Work experience as an undergraduate in education and/or academic research.
