EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Maintains a high level of skill and familiarity with the terminology, practices and procedures of the Child Support Agency. Maintains a high level of attention to detail and accuracy. Maintains strict confidentiality of work-related material. Drafts legal documents such as remedial contempt orders, warrants for commitment, continuation notices, order to show cause, amends, orders for arrest and affidavits, motions to modify, motions to establish paternity and/or child support, affidavits and child support orders. Assists child support paternity specialists with paternity-related paperwork including processing of test results and is trained in obtaining genetic testing samples. Accepts address and employment changes from case participants and enters them in the State's Kids Information Data System (KIDS). Processes child support and fee payments according to government accounting practices, rules and regulations. Routes in-coming and out-going mail. Processes case applications and case referrals from economic support. Ensures that resource information is appropriately stocked in the brochure holder and maintains the communication bulletin board with current and pertinent information. Creates New Order Resource Packets. Generates KIDS reports and disseminates to child support specialists. Tracks warrant related information. Using a word processor, types office correspondence, memos and reports, including confidential material; may transcribe from Dictaphone; prepares reports and drafts correspondence; composes letters, uses photocopiers. Answers telephone, orders office supplies, files and keeps records. In offices where employee is the only clerical support person, acts as the receptionist for the office. Performs routine and advanced word processing functions with above-average proficiency. Performs data entry functions. Orders and maintains office supplies for the department.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Advanced training at a technical college with preference for an Associate Degree in Office Computer Specialist, Administrative Assistant, or related area.Advanced experience using Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote.Minimum of two years responsible office experience.Experience as legal secretary working with legal documents strongly preferred.Experience scanning and indexing digital files.Good phone and interpersonal skills to deal effectively with participants, attorneys and court officials.Demonstrated competency in advanced word processing and computer skills.High level of organizational skills, accuracy and attention to detail.May consider graduate from an accredited high school, or GED, with three years of appropriate and relevant secretarial/office experience.
