SALARY:
The salary range for this position is $54,602.64 to $88,562.53 for Schedule A, and $54,602.64 to $84,134.41 for Schedule B. For newly hired individuals, the starting salary will normally be at the minimum of the salary range. For current Judiciary employees, salary upon promotion or advancement will be an increase of 5% of base salary, not to exceed the maximum of the range, or the minimum salary of the band/level, whichever is greater. Judiciary employees hired prior to June 3, 2014, are considered Schedule A. Newly hired individuals, and Judiciary employees hired on or after June 3, 2014, are considered Schedule B.

The New Jersey Judiciary, Burlington Vicinage, is seeking a highly motivated professional with solid decision making and optimal customer service skills to join the Municipal Division. Under the direction of the Municipal Division Manager and other personnel, the selected candidate will serve as a positive member of a professional team in overseeing and supporting the Vicinage’s 40 municipal courts. The selected candidate should be enthusiastic and detail-oriented, with a commitment to assisting and evaluating all Burlington County Municipal courts and their staff with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

The selected candidate will utilize their leadership skills in mentoring and coaching division staff and municipal court staff, directing and coordinating work, building collaborative relationships between stakeholders throughout the Burlington Vicinage, and formulating plans for utilization of available funds, personnel, equipment, materials, and supplies.


REMOTE WORK
: The Judiciary currently offers a hybrid work schedule, and this position may qualify for up to 2 days of remote work outside of Judiciary buildings. To participate in this program, you will be required to have high speed home internet access.

Example of Duties

  • Conduct mandatory on-site visitations, financial audits, and monitoring of municipal courts
  • Evaluate procedural compliance with the New Jersey Rules of Court, Supreme Court Directives, law and established policies and procedures governing the operation of Municipal courts
  • Review Municipal court budget proposals, identify deficiencies and assist courts in the preparation of the final budgets submitted to the Assignment Judge
  • Monitor case management techniques
  • Analyze backlog and preparing backlog reduction plans
  • Assist with the development of training programs
  • Establish court workflow systems and procedures
  • Investigate and respond to customer complaints and inquiries
  • Prepare written reports, presentations and non-routine correspondence
  • Mentor, coach, train and motivate court staff
  • Provide technical assistance to Municipal Judges and court staff
  • Develop, implement and create action plans for courts in crisis
  • Work on multiple assignments, while ensuring effective time management and prioritization
  • Review and interpret changes affecting the operations of the municipal courts
  • Recommend improvements for both the division and Municipal courts
  • Develop projects, programs, and follow up on deadlines to ensure that all 40 municipal courts are running efficiently
  • Perform other related duties as required

Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's Degree and three years of professional experience in program development, program coordination, program analysis, program administration and/or administrative research.

Substitution: Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute additional paraprofessional and/or professional experience on a year-for-year basis with one year of such experience being equal to 30 semester hour credits. An associate's degree and two years of additional paraprofessional and/or professional experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree. A master's degree may be substituted for one year of experience. A law degree may be substituted for two years of experience.

Supplemental Information

Driver's License: Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.

Authorization to Work: US citizenship is not required. Selected candidate must be authorized to work in the US according to Department of Homeland Security, US Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations.

Residency Law: Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 52:14-7 (L. 2011, Chapter 70), also known as the "New Jersey First Act," all persons newly hired by the Judiciary must establish, and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey.
