Nature of Work

This is a frontline position that works directly with the public coordinating the space rental programs. This position also is part of the special event planning process of the City.

Illustrative Examples of Essential Duties

  • Provide quality customer service.
  • Coordinate and schedule the rental of parking spaces for various uses in accordance with City Code.
  • Work directly with valet, construction and other space rental customers.
  • Work with the Department of Transportation to review and approve parking operational plans submitted by Valet Operators ensuring that proposals are in accordance with City Code.
  • Work with the Planning Department to review and approve privately owned underutilized parking lots and garages submitted as storage by Valet Operators as part of their valet space rental request.
  • Prepare invoices for parking space rental customers.
  • Assist customers with parking special needs including the coordination, issuance and invoicing of special permits for garage and parking lots.
  • Review and check agreements, records, forms and other documents for accuracy, completeness and conformance to rules and regulations.
  • Prepare and maintain internal and external reports as requested.
  • Work closely with the Miami Beach Police Department to coordinate the relocation of valet company parking spaces during street closures. i.e. during Memorial Day weekend, etc.
  • Attend monthly special events meetings to coordinate parking needs.
  • Work closely with the Enforcement Unit and Sign Maintenance Unit of the Parking Department in coordinating the reservation and release of parking spaces.
  • Meet with Enforcement Supervisors and Managers to research and discuss any discrepancies.
  • Monitor parking contracts.
  • Performs other tasks as required.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration or Business Administration. Experience may substitute on a year for year basis.
  • One (1) years of experience relevant to the major duties/essential functions of the position. Part-time experience will be prorated.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact.
  • Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to, word processor, calculator, copier, and facsimile machine.
  • No significant standing, walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, handling, sitting, standing, pushing, or pulling.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with elected officials, coworkers, the press the general public and members of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds regardless of race, religion, age, sex, disability, political affiliation, gender identity or sexual orientation.
  • Ability to serve the public and fellow employees with honesty and integrity in full accord with the letter and spirit of all city ethics and conflicts of interest policies. Strong understanding of ethical behavior is required.
  • Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance.

  • Reports to work as directed during an emergency as an essential employee of the City of Miami Beach
