Salary Grade: NC08 Salary Range: $35,788 - $62,628
The N.C. Ferry System is responsible for providing safe, cost-effective and dependable ferry service for the traveling public and ensuring that our vessels are operated and maintained to the highest levels of maritime safety.
Candidate must have experience working in a fast-paced environment and can communicate effectively and courteously with a diverse group of individuals with varying skills and abilities while maintaining a high level of performance. This position will work with the public at job fairs, interact with staff across Ferry Division, and will be a part of a dynamic team of HR professionals. Must be able to work as a contributing team member and independently to accomplish the vision and goals of NC Ferry Division Human Resources. This position will report directly to the HR Program Coordinator. Duties will include but are not limited to processing new hire/reinstatement applications, performing employee orientations, assisting employees with questions regarding benefits enrollment/retirement/FMLA/Time and personnel issues, processing reports, maintaining employee files both physically and electronically, and other duties as required for Ferry Division. This position is also responsible for the appropriate handling of confidential information, both in written and verbal form, learning and independently applying laws, departmental policies, and regulations in the performance of assigned duties. Must have the knowledge and use of office equipment and related computer technology: MS Office Suite and SAP/Beacon.
This position will primarily work at the Cherry Branch Administration Facility.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies
Qualified Applicants must submit an application that clearly reflects work experience that demonstrates the following:
- Experience using an HRIS system such as BEACON
- Experience composing various written correspondences such as memos, group emails, etc.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Experience interpreting and applying human resources policies and procedures
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
