Transition Projects connects individuals with the services, resources, and tools they need to end their homelessness. Our team of over 350 assists more than 10,000 people each year at 14 different sites in the Portland metro.

  • On any given day, we help meet the basic needs of more than 500 people experiencing homelessness through our Resource Center.

Hours: Monday – Friday, Part time 20hrs/week; 9:00am-1:00pm or 1:00pm -5:00pm

Wage: $22.00 hourly

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Actively work as part of a team to provide services to participants and the community in a manner consistent with Transition Projects mission, values, policies and procedures. Serve as the first point of contact for community partners and providers, donors, visitors and people seeking to access the Ticket Home program. Provide clerical/administrative assistance such as general filing, preparing correspondence, answering telephones, routing calls and messages, and providing information and assistance to partners or participants as requested. This is a non-exempt, represented full-time position.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct eligibility screenings for the Ticket Home program. Responsible for the tracking and reporting of all data and coordinating with Ticket Home staff to ensure services are delivered promptly and accurately.
  • Serving as the primary receptionist for Transition Projects main contact line, provide information and referral services to community partners, providers, and participants, including information about agency programs, services, and requirements.
  • Utilizing HMIS Service Point, access and update participant information regarding shelter access and service eligibility.
  • Seated at the main reception desk of Transition Projects’ headquarters in Bud Clark Commons, serve as the agency’s first point of contact for community partners and providers, donors, visitors and people seeking to access the Ticket Home program via face-to-face and phone interaction.
  • Welcome on-site visitors, determine nature of business, and announce visitors to appropriate personnel through phone and email.
  • Process incoming in-kind and monetary donations and document through receipts.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation of in-kind and monetary donations in the Development database and ensure confidentiality of donors, staff and agency.
  • Maintain confidentiality of participants, staff and agency.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation of services delivered manually and electronically in the HMIS database.
  • Record and file documents as instructed. Assist as directed with assembling, organizing, inspecting for completeness, and routing of participant files.
  • Assist with general office administration such as preparing correspondence, assembling packets for meetings or training events, filing, copying, and distributing items.
  • Receive, document and place packages on appropriate Donation Room shelves; alert BCC staff of their packages received by email and phone for documentation.
  • Provide material aid to Resource Center when needed.
  • Ensure common areas are always clean and tidy.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • The right individual for this position has a passion for helping others and a desire to work in an organization that serves people who are experiencing poverty and homelessness.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or one-year experience in social services, reception, or administration preferred. Experience working with homeless/low-income population helpful.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently. Ability to appropriately assess a situation and take corrective action as necessary.
  • Knowledge of basic services available to low-income and homeless persons in Multnomah County through Transition Projects and other agencies or the demonstrated ability to obtain such knowledge.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Great computer skills. Ability to use web-based data collection program.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
