Position Summary

Reports directly to the Sr. Manager of Recruitment, Admissions and High School Programs. Assists with Coconino Community College’s (CCC) recruitment efforts targeting both high school and adult students to build the enrollment pipeline. Interacts with students, faculty, staff, and the public providing information, problem solving and assistance. Admissions Specialist II is often the first person that students speak to at the College, and it is essential that this individual provide exceptional customer service. This position provides direct support to the Admissions and High School Programs department. This position is a full-time, 12 month, benefit eligible position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

CUSTOMER SERVICE: Provides front counter service to students, faculty, staff and the public. Assists students with scheduling advising and other Student Service appointments, helps students complete the admissions application, responds to emails, answers phones and makes referrals to staff as needed. Provides excellent customer service and ensures a welcoming and inclusive experience at the College. Promotes and connects students to College programs and services. Makes referrals to College resources, including faculty, registration and enrollment services, business office, and financial aid. Shares accurate information, by phone or in person, about college procedures and other routine information to visitors, students, faculty, and community members. Includes sensitive and confidential information. Trains and oversees student workers at the Welcome Desk in customer service and working with sensitive information.

RECRUITMENT: Provides campus tours to prospective students, assists with recruitment activities including, but not limited to, high school visitations, college/career fairs, campus visits, college community events, and orientations. Represents the college at these and other related events in a positive, professional and engaging manner.

STUDENT ENROLLMENT AND SUPPORT: Utilizes the Enrollment RX and Salesforce systems, Banner and other relevant technology tools. Maintains current knowledge of the college’s academic programs and certificates and effectively communicates these to students, parents and community members. Answers basic academic advisement questions for students and confers with Academic Advisors when necessary.

COLLABORATION/COMMUNICATION: Assists with event coordination and other special projects. Works with the Marketing Department to assist with developing promotional materials and social media outreach efforts. Continually strives to build and maintain partnerships with Academic Affairs, Marketing & Community Relations, Business Services, and other internal and external stakeholders.

INCLUSIVITY: Works with staff to ensure that all students and colleagues are fully included and contributes to a safe, welcoming and nurturing environment at the College. Assists with inclusivity efforts within recruitment, Admissions and High School Programs.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to work with diverse groups and individuals; Strong customer service skills and ability to adapt in a fast paced, deadline-driven, unpredictable environment. Ability to multitask coordinating many stakeholders internally and externally, with an understanding of the mission, vision, role, and goals for the College. Knowledge and ability to adapt to college-wide technology systems and testing software. Skill in positive and effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication as applied to interactions in public relations, marketing, and student recruitment. Skill in organizing people and events. Ability to problem-solve and analyze; to demonstrate tact and patience to resolve student complaints and concerns. Ability to present in front of large groups, strong computer literacy, the ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks, and to interact successfully with a wide range of individuals at all levels of colleges, partner universities, and the external community. Excellent time management and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Associates degree and two years directly related experience; or any combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job and/or as approved by the Human Resources Department.
  • Current Arizona state driver’s license.
