Volunteers in Medicine of Southern Nevada (VMSN) is looking for a Family Planning APRN to join its clinical care team. The APRN provides medical services to patients using approved patient care protocols; collect and document data, conduct diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, order and schedule laboratory studies and professional consultations and provides direct patient care services. Formulates and implements treatment and therapeutic plans for hospitalized patients in accordance with the policies and procedures of the VMSN clinic. Essential Job Functions:  Provides comprehensive direct care for VMSN patients (Min 30hrs/Wk) including examining patients, providing education, ordering and reviewing lab and radiology reports.  Document patient information per VMSN policies and procedures.  Communicate with patients over the phone regarding labs, diagnostics/imaging, medications, and specialist referrals as needed.  Provide patient education regarding diagnosis, medications, treatment, and medical procedures.  Provide quality, fair treatment of all patients.  Perform other duties as assigned.  Prescribes appropriate medical treatment and clinical medications consistent  with Medical Standards for patients and orders studies, tests, and ancillary care  services as required  Creates medically appropriate referrals  Follows all established rules and guidelines of evidence-based care and best clinical practice  Documents all services in electronic patient medical record  Educates patients on wellness, prevention, and early detection by discussion and/or providing materials and resources to the patients and families  Provides routine office injections SQ, IM, or Intraarticular as per standards of care for primary care providers and Cano Health care standards.  Consults/collaborates with Cano Health Physician as needed regarding patientcare, assessment, and education issues in patients with complicated medical conditions.  Maintains privacy and confidentiality of all patient information according to federal and state guidelines, regulations and HIPAA.  Assist Medical Director with grant writing and quarterly grant reporting  Develop, implement, refine and oversee educational classes for volunteers and staff to assure quality care of our patients. Required Qualifications:  Graduate from an accredited APRN program.  Current Nevada State license as an APRN.  Professional clinical experience in specific area of practice, i.e. Family Practice.  Successful completion of pre-employment background checks.  Interest in designing and evaluating an efficient health care system in a community health care center setting highly desirable.  Authoritative knowledge of the principles of practice  Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal communication skills.  Ability to work independently and as part of a team.  Working knowledge of computers including Windows and Microsoft Office.  Follow written policies and procedures as established by the Medical and Nursing Directors.  Bilingual in English and Spanish both spoken and written. We are able to do so because of the many caring health care practitioners and other individuals who volunteer their time to help our neighbors in need, and because of the generous financial and in-kind service contributions given each year by businesses, foundations and individuals.

Position Overview: The Front Desk Assistant helps to support the administrative duties of the Front Desk. Reporting to the Front Desk Coordinator, the Front Desk Assistant is responsible for moving the patient through the check in and checkout process in a supervisory role of the Front Desk volunteers. The Front Desk Assistant must interact smoothly with the Medical staff.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Welcomes patients and visitors in a friendly and inviting demeanor.
  • Assists with the training of all incoming Front Desk volunteers, including Front Desk lead positions and scheduling/check out volunteers.
  • Schedules appointments for follow-up and resources including Care Coordination and Ask a Pharmacist; exercises good judgment in the scheduling of escalated cases from the Medical staff.
  • Answers or refers inquiries from patients and volunteers, in person or by telephone.
  • In a supervisory role of volunteer staff, ensures patient appointments are on schedule by notifying the Back desk of patient's arrival and ensures correct check-in process.
  • Maintains front office inventory and equipment by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipates needed supplies, expedites orders for supplies to supervisory personnel and verifies receipt of supplies.
  • Maintains operations by following policies and procedures, and reports needed changes to supervisory personnel.
  • Protects patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information.
  • Helps manage patient interest list for VMSN classes/resources including but not limited to Latinos Saludables, Coping with Chronic Illness, etc.
  • Comforts patients by anticipating patients' anxieties, answering patients' questions and maintaining the reception area.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish required; assists in translating in Spanish when needed for patients either by walk-in or by phone.

Required Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in eClinicalWorks.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish; Written and Spoken.
  • MAA Certification or minimum (1) year of experience working in a medical facility/clinic reception desk.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent customer service and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong organizational skills; ability to manage priorities with high volume of detailed work..
  • Passion for improving the Las Vegas community through non-profit work.
  • Sensitivity to the needs of diverse populations.
  • Positive and motivated self-starter.
  • Working knowledge of computers including Windows and Microsoft Office.
