After-School Nanny for 3 Kids! | Durham | Near Valley Springs Park Job at My Girl Friday, LLC
Be part of our next short story. | Durham | Near Valley Springs Park | 4 or 5 Days/Week | Jan 12th | $23-25/hour
- We’re a family of 5 looking to propose a long-term relationship to our ride-or-die nanny. We don’t have a ring, but we do have 3 kiddos who have no shortage of comedic routines. The twin girls are 9 years old and our son turned 6 in November. We’ve been doing this balancing act of managing 3 active kids, school, and careers (we actually like) for far too long. Adventures and outings are definitely a must with our crew! We’re looking for a gem that also knows all the hidden gems of the Triangle. We’d love an outdoor-loving, active, and intuitive nanny who loves to PLAY!
- Our core hours are M-F (or M-Th if you are interested in a 3 day weekend!) 2:30p-5:30p, but we’ve got options for more hours if you’re interested. The kids get dropped off at the bus stop, which is about a block away, at 2:40p. If you need a few more hours and are open to some family assistant tasks, we have no shortage of family linens, kid laundry, meal prep, and other odds and ends that we would love to shift into your capable hands. We’re thinking M-F 1p-6p, but are open to hearing your suggestions too! We can guarantee 20 hours a week or 25 hours with a few more family assistant tasks tacked on. We are flexible on your start date but need you to be in place by early January!
- Our main goal is to have someone to greet the kids after school, get the kids a snack, make sure that pesky homework gets done, and help them decompress from the day. Help with packing lunches, meal prep for the kids, vacuuming after snack time, and kid laundry would absolutely rock our world. As we mentioned, our kids are super active and do have a few extra-curricular activities that are all within a 4 mile radius of our home. We need help getting the kids packed and ready for these activities and cheering them on as they practice. We’ll provide mileage reimbursement when you’re using your car, but on occasion, when Mom is working from home you can use her kidmobile. On practice-free days, we’d love for you to take the kids out to all of your favorite, kid-friendly, local hangouts. We know the Triangle has a lot of fun, unique, and diverse opportunities for kids to explore and we’ll love you forever if you let us in on the secret.
- Are you a great nanny but new to the family assistant world? We’re happy to polish up those family assistant skills. In the time before the kids get home from school, we could use a hand organizing the pantry, organizing and tidying the kids play areas and their rooms, managing the family calendar, taking the dog to the groomers, managing family laundry (not a deal breaker, but a bonus!), and a million other things that inevitably pop up with 3 kiddos running around. We’d love, if you’re open, for you to join us on our family trips to the mountains or the beach. It’s not required, but we just wanted to throw it out there should it come up. Don’t be surprised if we ask and we promise not to be surprised (or offended) if you say no.
- Get this! Mom and Dad actually really love their jobs! Mom and Dad met doing public service in California. After a pit stop in DC, we made our way down to North Carolina. Dad is an attorney and Mom works on the research and policy side in the nutrition world. Pre-COVID, Mom used to travel about once a month for work. Although she doesn’t anticipate travel getting back to that level, she is traveling a few times a quarter. Our jobs and lives are fairly busy (hence the need for you!), but we really enjoy our work. When we’re not crushing our careers, we LOVE to be outside. Dad is a big golfer and Mom is a runner who is excited to have a little more time to hit the pavement. As a family we love hiking trips in the mountains and lounging around at the beach.
- Our twins are self-proclaimed opposites and our son fits snuggly in the middle. Our kids are classic siblings– as in one minute they are acting out a short story one of them wrote and the next minute they are arguing over who is the Mama Cheetah. What can we say? We believe in letting our kids work things out themselves for the most part. However, we do have some pretty firm boundaries in our house that the kids know are a “one and done” situation. We like to offer choices, a chance to reflect and self-correct. MGF got some screen time with the future playwrights, short story authors, and entrepreneurs and let us tell you, they are a hoot! They are each so fun, confident, and happy to tell you about their favorites and not so favorites. Although there were mixed reviews on steak and salmon, everyone agreed that Mom’s cooking is the best! When we asked the kiddos what they were hoping for in a nanny, they each had some fun ideas. The twins would LOVE and we mean LOVE someone that LOVES arts and crafts. Got a knack for getting crafty? We wanna meet you! Little bro is looking for someone that’s down to play ball and act out stories with them. Everyone agreed that animal lovers are a MUST!
- Allergy Alert! Mom has Celiac Disease and our son is allergic to peanuts, shellfish, dairy, eggs, and tree nuts. Needless to say, we are a nut-free home. We do have gluten in the house, but we are SUPER conscious of cross contamination. We are looking for someone to support us on this lifelong journey, which can look like washing knives after cutting something with gluten or using a separate colander for gluten-free and wheat pastas. Our son has an Epipen and Mom can help train you on how to use this. You don’t need to be an expert. If you’re comfortable and willing to learn, we are excited to meet you!
- Which brings us to our next point… we have an 11 year old Standard Poodle! She’s hypoallergenic, laid-back, and is independent in our electric-fenced yard. She’s sweet as can be, but will 100% follow you around. We’d appreciate you taking her on a brief walk to get the kids from the bus stop in the afternoons. We could also use your help making and transporting her to her grooming appointments from time to time.
- All 5 of us are vaccinated and boosted and we’re looking for a match on this front. When it comes to being cautious, we’d consider ourselves in the middle of the road…sort of. We’re mask-free most of the time but we keep an eye on transmission rates. When rates rise, we choose to mask indoors in public places. We don’t want to control your life, but would appreciate someone that is open, honest, and down to stay communicative as we ride this ol’ COVID train.
- We’re offering $23-25/hr, PTO, and first edition copies of all of our golden short stories.
