Qualifications

- Possess the aptitude to complete tasks in a safe manner

- Must have Certified Aggregate Technician training with ALDOT or the ability to obtain such certification

- Must conduct business in a professional and courteous manner

- Proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Office, and especially Microsoft Excel

- Ability to work efficiently in a team or as an individual

- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions (hot, cold, rain)

- Ability to stand for long periods of time and walk on uneven terrain

- Flexibility to work some overtime and weekend hours

Responsibilities

- Perform laboratory tests on aggregate samples to determine physical characteristics such as gradation, specific gravity, abrasion, etc.

- Adhere to testing methods, including American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) and Department of Transportation (DOT)

- Work in and around aggregate processing plants to obtain samples from stockpiles, conveyors, and customer sites

- Inspect, maintain, and calibrate aggregate laboratory equipment

- Ensure stockpiles are built with techniques that reduce the possibility of segregation, contamination, and degradation to maintain quality of products

- Ensure loadout procedures follow best practices

- Assist in investigating and resolving quality issues that arise inside the mine or at the construction/manufacturing site

- Analyze processing plants to recommend changes that affect that quality and production of aggregate products

- Record and maintain aggregate test results in excel or applicable software

- In a timely manner, report and effectively communicate test results to management, DOT, and other parties

- Additional responsibilities as assigned
