Schwope Brothers Tree Farms West Coast, acquired in June 2018, is nestled in the foothills of the Oregon Coast range and is 500 acres of bareroot trees. This West Coast division specializes in the production of high quality bareroot shade, flowering, and fruit trees.

We are searching for a Growing Systems Manager that would be responsible for the farm infrastructure. This infrastructure includes; Pump stations, Irrigation systems, Cold frames, Controlled Environment Greenhouses, Buildings, Potting lines, Docks, Roads, Drainage, etc. at Schwope Brothers Tree Farms West Coast and Rio Verdes Plantas.
Key Accountabilities

  • Agricultural Systems Management: Ensure all farm infrastructure and facilities are functioning as designed
  • Agricultural Systems Design and Installation: Manage the process from start to finish, of improvements to infrastructure on the farms
  • Lead, Manage, and Hold Accountable Direct Reports: Provide regular coaching and feedback, remove obstacles, and hold the team accountable for the execution of work
  • Return on Investment of Assets: Ensure the economic viability of on-farm infrastructure

Essential Job Functions

  • Maintenance and Inspection Schedule: Develop and manage to schedule
  • Project Management: Develop and manage to the project plan
  • Professional Meetings: Participate in Senior Leadership meeting for West Coast operations, lead department meetings, and conduct 1-2-1 meetings with direct reports
  • Budgeting: Develop and manage to maintenance, repair, and construction budgets

Minimum Qualifications*

  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, agricultural engineering, farming, or technology
  • Preferred: Proficient in Microsoft Office and technology
  • Required: Must maintain a valid driver’s license
