POSITION TITLE: Air Quality Program Coordinator
DEPARTMENT: Environmental
SUPERVISOR: Environmental Director
WAGE: Level 12 $13.94. Level 13 $14.63, Level 14 $15.37 F/T 40hrs/wk.

POSITION SUMMARY: The primary function of this position isresponsible for implementation of work plan activities, budget, and compliance with federal grant requirements, under the “Clean Air Act Section 103” Tribal Air Quality Program and similar air quality contracts as required.
DUTIES:
- Keeps abreast of current trends and information in the field of air quality, and reviews and prepares comments on federal regulatory documents.
- Conducts necessary studies/assessments on Reservation and Colony air quality, including an emission inventory. Reviews and interprets data.
- Prepare project status reports for EPA and other granting authorities, monthly progress reports for Tribal Council, and educational articles for Environmental newsletter.
- Attends necessary training sessions and meetings and prepares informational reports for Tribal Council.
- Conducts public education meetings on air quality issues and develops activities for the summer youth program.
- Maintains positive relations with regulatory, governmental, and granting agencies, and other Tribal environmental departments.
- Cooperate with local, regional, and national environmental groups and organizations.
- Oversees daily activities in the air quality program.
- Oversees consultant activities and ensures contractual deliverables are completed within time frames anticipated.
- Responsible for air sampling events at reservation site, data, collection of air samples, and regular submission to consultant(s) for analysis. Review data with consultant and determine possible health risks.
- Make recommendations and develop plans to reduce air pollutants and protect reservation air quality.
- Responsible for research of grant availability and grant writing.
- Cross trains Environmental Staff as appropriate.
- Changes air filters and maintains air equipment.
- Keeps an accurate daily logbook.
- Adheres to documented tribal by-laws, policies, and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Associates Degree Preferred
- Experience with monitoring of Particulate Matter preferred.
- Knowledge of Air Quality Systems preferred.
- Ability to travel in and out of state.
- Must be motivated, and able to work independently.
- Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations.
- Experience in word processing and general computer knowledge, such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Basic knowledge of environmental programs and issues, including water quality.
- Maintain strict confidentiality.
- Possess a valid Nevada Driver’s License and be insurable.
- Pass pre-employment drug screen and complete background investigation.
- Able to lift 40 lbs. or more.
