The City is offering a $2,500 hiring incentive to new hires for Airfield Maintenance Worker I which will be paid in accordance with A.R. 2.55.

The Aviation Department manages and operates the Phoenix Airport System which consists of Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, Deer Valley Airport, and Goodyear Airport. The Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport has consistently been ranked as one of the top ten busiest airports in the nation. Serving more than 125,000 passengers daily, with over 1,200 flights per day, the airport has a total economic impact of more than $38 billion per year.

The Aviation Department is seeking an Airfield Maintenance Worker I to perform a variety of construction and maintenance tasks on the airfield and streets at Sky Harbor International Airport, Deer Valley Airport, and Goodyear Airport.

Responsibilities include:

• Asphalt crack sealing.
• Setting up barricades and warning devices to channel traffic around maintenance areas.
• Operating a walk-behind paint striper.
• Installing and repairing ground-painted graphics, small signage, and chain link fencing.

• Familiar with Federal Aviation Administration rules, regulations, and guidelines.

$16.90 (minimum) - $19.94 (maximum) hourly / $35,152.00 - $41,475.20 annually.

The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:

• Experience with construction, maintenance, and repair work involving concrete and asphalt and properly setting traffic control devices.
• Experience operating small to medium sized gasoline/diesel powered engine driven equipment.
• Requires:
  • Climbing ladders.
  • Moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds as needed.
  • Working irregular hours, second and/or third shifts, weekends, holidays, and evenings as needed.
  • Working outside in a variety of environmental extremes such as heat, cold, rain, air pollution, and dust.
