Job Title: AIX Admin
Location: West Palm Beach, FL
Duration: Full Time
Skills Required:
- Perform all AIX admin tasks.
- Reset/Recover user ID and Passwords
- OS upgrades / migrations
- Adjust LPAR resources via the HMC when approved and needed.
- Build a new system/LPAR/VIOs
- Check root mail
- Performance monitoring - proactively detect performance constraints, resolve and/or engage with application support for the resolution
- Perform a network iptrace or tcpdump when needed.
- Major Firmware upgrades and new HMC and frame installations.
- Maintain and troubleshoot VIO servers such as Shared Ethernet Adapters, NPIV.
- Maintain/Troubleshoot Storage as needed: lsvg and other AIX commands
- Perform all NIM operations such as to maintain lpp_source, spt, and NIM servers.
- Recovering servers from failed reboots.
- Perform mksysb and restore from a mksysb.
- Open cases with IBM.
- Generate logs/snaps and any other files or documents to send to IBM.
- Generate a crash dump via the HMC when needed for troubleshooting with IBM.
- Download new OS releases, fixes, Firmware, and HIPER fixes from Fix central and/or Entitlement IBM sites.
- Maintain Golden Image servers.
- How to put in the Emergency patch should they come out: instfix command
- Install RPMs when needed.
- NIM alt disk installs
- NFS Mounts/Exports
- Troubleshoot server hangs. Paging/CPU/IO issues
- Monitor LPAR resources when needed for troubleshooting.
- Build and maintain in-house admin tools.
- Storage migrations.
- Document current and new Admin processes and procedures.
- Perform DR procedures for test and actual DR.
- Build Automation scripts
- Disaster Recovery Processes
- Live Partition Mobility tasks
