The Asset Management Analyst will help develop, improve, and maintain internal reporting and forecasting processes for Driftwood Capital’s hotel portfolio. The Analyst will analyze key performance indicators, monitor financial statements and operational results of third-party management, and conduct ROI analyses. The Analyst will help facilitate communication among the team, act as the hotel performance and market data expert, and handle special projects as assigned. This is a highly visible role with access to the CEO, Managing Directors, and all other department heads resulting in direct advancement opportunities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyze financial statements, conduct bench-marking analyses, and complete other exercises related to maximizing portfolio profitability.
  • Produce monthly hotel dashboards outlining hotel performance relative to budget, historical performance, and pace.
  • Provide timely and accurate financial reporting to management for individual hotels, regions, funds, and portfolio.
  • Produce quarterly and annual investor reporting for individual assets and funds. Provide analysis and commentary for quarterly Board of Directors reporting.
  • Review and analyze operating budgets, capital budgets, and sales/marketing plans. Monitor capital project costs and schedule.
  • Help develop, prepare, maintain, and improve current analytics to proactively recommend and support critical decisions and strategies pertaining to hotel performance and reporting.
  • Collect, organize, and synthesize lodging industry information, including market and sub-market data, such as recent transactions, market pricing, local business development, and changes in supply and demand.
  • Liaise with in-house departments including but not limited to investor relations, acquisitions, development, accounting, capital markets, and legal, to provide data on asset performance, strategy, and related matters.
  • Assist in collecting broker opinions of values and conduct disposition analyses for sell/hold strategy recommendations.
  • Prepare and update internal valuations of individual assets on a regular basis.
  • Develop institutional quality models and presentation materials for internal and external audiences on an as needed basis for special projects.
Requirements:
  • Prior experience in hotel acquisitions, development, asset management, advisory, or similar discipline within hospitality real estate finance. Prior full-time, professional experience in hotel real estate or operations is preferred.
  • S/he should have a bachelor’s degree in a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
  • This individual must possess strong analytical and Excel modeling skills, including the ability to construct new models for analyses related to operational performance, market growth and penetration, dispositions, capital expenditures, etc. S/he also must have strong writing and presentation skills, including the ability to develop PowerPoint decks.
  • Prior familiarity with and experience using industry systems and resources is highly preferred, specifically STR, CoStar, Hotel Horizons, OpenComps, BuildCentral Hotel Market Data, etc.
  • The ideal candidate will have a background in a hospitality real estate finance role and understand private equity structures and investments.
  • The ideal candidate will be comfortable working closely with the executive team as well as management company leadership, including the ability to work in a cross-functional, entrepreneurial atmosphere to achieve measurable results and improve existing processes.
  • The ideal candidate must be detail oriented, with an ability to work independently and as a team, prioritizing multiple complex projects effectively and accurately in a fast-paced environment. S/he also must be results-driven and able to manage multiple projects and priorities concurrently.
  • The position will also include property visits, as needed, with travel comprising no more than 10% of the role.
  • The position provides direct advancement opportunity into hotel asset management.
  • The role is based in our office in Coral Gables (Miami), Florida. This is not a remote role.
