Ascendant is recruiting qualified candidates for a full-time Analyst position linked to a contract that we hold with the International Trade Administration of the U.S. Department of Commerce. The Analyst will support SelectUSA’s programmatic work in attracting and retaining foreign direct investment in the United States.

Analyst duties will include substantive research, analytical, and administrative support for SelectUSA’s business development efforts and investment services delivery to investor and economic development organization clients. The Analyst will perform planning, research, and analysis tasks and contribute to SelectUSA products and deliverables; contribute to production coordination of reports and work products; and assist with the creation of briefing documents for high-level officials. Deliverables may take the form of reports, information, graphics, advice, opinions, alternatives, analysis, evaluations, recommendations, and other oral or written work products.

This position is based in Washington, D.C. and is metro accessible (Federal Triangle). This is a hybrid telework position with two days per week in the office.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree is required
  • Three (3) or more years of professional experience
  • Knowledge or experience in economic development, site selection, international trade, and/or foreign direct investment is desired
  • Proficiency with Outlook and Microsoft Office Suite products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Advanced knowledge reading, editing, generating graphs, and performing calculations in MS Excel
  • Proficiency in preparation of briefing materials, data visualizations, and dashboards
  • Ability to compile and analyze data, and produce professional-grade documents
  • Proficiency in conducting internet research, as well as utilizing databases; prior experience with LexisNexis, D&B Hoovers, Salesforce, and/or fDi Markets is a plus
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Ability to operate independently to complete tasks and succeed in a fast-paced environment
  • Applicants should demonstrate enthusiasm, initiative, flexibility, and attention to detail
  • A public trust background check with U.S. Government must be completed prior to starting work
