Basic Function: Serves patient by providing precise and accurate laboratory results for the purpose of infertility assessment and management. Responsible for performing andrology and endocrine laboratory services in accordance with established procedures and protocols.

  • Perform semen analyses, report and record results.
  • Prepare semen samples for insemination.
  • Evaluate sperm morphology.
  • Cryopreservation of sperm.
  • Prepare sperm for IVF.
  • Perform sperm aspiration procedures TESA/TESE with Urologist
  • Maintain sperm inventory spreadsheet.
  • Perform endocrine hormone assays for infertility patients.
  • Complete understanding of blood tests required for the different ART cycles.
  • Assures proper sample collection, delivery and identification.
  • Communicates with center personnel, medical staff, patients, and outside resources to ensure high quality patient care.
  • Processes requisitions, test reports and test records in a timely manner
  • Perform safe handling of specimens by following the safety guidelines for biohazardous, infectious and toxic substances in the Endocrine Laboratory.
  • Perform daily start-up and run all appropriate endocrine assays.
  • Document quality assurance activities including description of unusual incidents, problems, and appropriate corrective action on remedial action sheet.
  • Perform daily/weekly quality control for procedures and equipment used in the Laboratory.
  • Perform endocrine proficiency testing as required by CLIA ‘88 regulations.
  • Assist with writing new policies and procedures and updating the Endocrine Laboratory procedure manual when necessary.
  • Assist laboratory personnel in performing laboratory services in accordance with Federal, State and local laws and guidelines to ensure laboratory maintains accreditation.
  • Assist as required in maintaining laboratory operations in conformity with OSHA and CLIA ‘88 regulations.
  • Sets up, calibrates and cleans laboratory equipment. Assures routine maintenance and repairs are performed and documented. Follows manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshoots malfunctions; calls for repairs; maintain equipment inventories; evaluate new equipment and techniques.
  • Maintain clinical service quality by adhering to quality assurance policies and procedures and government requirements; collaborate with co-workers, physicians and other members of management to develop and update diagnostic testing methods, and clinical procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in medical technology, biology, chemistry or other related field
  • Previous work experience in a research/hospital laboratory desired.
  • Knowledge of office procedures and office machines (i.e. computer, fax, copier, etc.).
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $27.00 - $29.00 per hour
