About Us:
At Watauga Humane Society, our number one priority are the animals! As an open admission, no-kill shelter, we see up to 2,000 animals each year from Watauga County. Our goal is to provide top notch care, exercise, and enrichment to keep to each animal happy, healthy, and stimulated until their adoption day!
Job Summary:
Responsible for supervising and providing daily care to cats, dogs, and small animals.
Typical daily job duties:
- Scrub and clean kennels, condos, and rooms to ensure sanitary living and playing space for each animal.
- Provide fresh food, clean water, and comfort to animals.
- Monitor animals for signs of illness or injury, and report to the medical technician.
- Provide daily enrichment and training.
- Bathe and groom animals as needed.
- Matching potential adopters with the best fitting companion.
Other job duties may include:
- Running adoptions and maintaining animal records.
- Assisting the public with services such as spay/neuter appointments, dog park passes, and access to our community pet food pantry.
- Answering phones and assisting with general questions.
Availability:
Weekend and holiday flexibility are required. This position is open to those able to work part-time or full-time hours.
Education:
High School Diploma or higher
Experience:
This is an entry level position where we will train and assist you into the position.
Previous experience working with animals in a kennel, boarding, clinic, or grooming environment is a plus!
