Department Summary
The Registrar’s Office provides support services to students, faculty, staff and other constituents in the areas of academic advising support programs, course scheduling, enrollment, degree verification, transfer articulation, test credit, athletic certification and maintenance of student academic records, as well as handles state and federal reporting. Position Overview
The Application Support Specialist is part of a team responsible for working with the academic units to ensure the proper coding and maintenance of all degree requirements in UNT’s degree audit application, uAchieve. The Application Support Specialist performs their daily tasks under the supervision of the Assistant Registrar for Academic Support.
This position requires knowledge and understanding of student records processing, academic policies and procedures, and the college curriculum process. It requires the ability to identify and address problems. This position requires superior analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated competence in use of logic. Must be detail oriented and able to work both independently and as part of a team. NOTE : This is a technical position and is NOT student facing.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate’s Degree in related field and two years of work experience in computing,
information systems, or related field; or any equivalent combination of education,
training and experience



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Proficient understanding of relational database, client-server concepts, and
computer programming, and understanding of all phases of the application
development lifecycle.
  • Strong MS Office skills (Word, Excel).
  • Certifications in supported technologies.
  • Excellent organization, teamwork, problem-solving, and communication (verbal
and written) skills.
  • Ability to work well with people in all levels of the organization

Job Duties

o
Works with the academic advising offices and support areas to develop and maintain degree audit encoding. Encoding is the process of interpreting degree requirements, translating that information into the degree audit system terminology, and then entering that information into degree audit system tables. The entering of information into degree audit system tables requires an understanding of the degree audit system processes and could be likened to learning a programming language.

Maintain and expand the transfer guides maintained on the UNT website.

o
Work with academic advisors and support areas to address individual student issues within uAchieve and UNT’s student information system, EIS.

o
Provide technical assistance to Admissions, Records, and Transfer Processing staff to resolve issues with student records.

o
Support training opportunities for UNT faculty and staff on degree audit usage and functionality.

o
Follows the proceedings of meetings of key committees to ensure that all approved changes and modifications to UNT’s academic requirements are maintained in the degree audit system.

o
Works with the Assistant Registrar for Academic Support as directed on system upgrades and new projects associated with the degree audit system.

o
Completes all required training such as diversity and security training, and others as assigned.
