We are seeking Security Officers to become an integral part of our team. The selected individual will patrol and secure assigned premises as well as identify risks to staff and patrons.

Responsibilities:

• Monitor premises to prevent theft, violence, or infractions of rules
• Patrol on foot and in vehicle (or on bike as assigned). Offers such assistance as unlocking doors inside or doing motor assists outside, is ever observant to suspicious activities and security violations.
• Provides statistical safety and security reporting to internal customers and senior management regarding safety and security performance, improvement strategies/initiatives, and compliance issues as required.
• Completes assigned or self-generated reports or logs daily on all activities, irregularities and investigations; logs all calls and accepts and logs all lost articles. Send reports to managers and executives.
• Investigates suspected crimes, prepares reports, and evaluates pertinent data and other necessary documentation. Co-operates with law enforcement on complaints.
• Provides security escorts and other assistance to employees or visitors as conditions warrant for safety or as assigned.
• Responds to routine inquiries and directs visitors to appropriate areas, prevents unauthorized access to restricted areas.
• Use proactive non-violent verbal de-escalation skills to neutralize volatile situations involving staff and visitors without escalating the event into a violent incident.
• In dealing with aggressors, use defensive tactics and approved MCOLES force continuum if necessary to safeguard lives and well-being of staff and visitors.
• May provide CPR/ first aid in the event of a medical emergency on the grounds or in common areas until trained medical staff can arrive.

Standard Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED. Completion of an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice or graduation from a state regulated Police Academy is highly desired.
• Must possess a valid unrestricted Michigan Operators License.
• Must have a valid CPL.

Applicants are subject to a background check for criminal convictions; a drug/alcohol dependency test (medical) will be conducted as a condition of employment.
