ART THERAPIST

Job Overview

Art therapists at Shenandoah Art Therapy, LLC work in an outpatient private practice setting as an employee of Shenandoah Art Therapy, LLC, under the supervision of the director. The art therapist works on an hourly basis.

Shenandoah Art Therapy is currently looking to hire an art therapist who is available to work in the afternoons and evenings and has interest in working with children and teen clients.

Responsibilities & Duties

● Uses clinical, trauma-informed knowledge of the therapeutic use of art to support clients in working towards their goals, primarily served in individual sessions.

● Administers art therapy assessments upon intake and uses information to design and implement an art therapy treatment plan based on client strengths and needs.

● Facilitates sessions for clients utilizing the interventions outlined in the treatment plan

● Routinely writes and maintains intake paperwork, client notes, progress updates, and other paperwork as needed

● Participates in staff meetings, practice think tanks and trainings as scheduled

● Manages care coordination with other treatment team professionals, attends FAPT meetings as scheduled/available

● Supports outreach efforts at community events and maintains community relationships with referral sources

● Optional: Implements population-specific art therapy interventions for individual sessions and groups if contracted with community organizations

Qualifications

The art therapist will have a master’s degree in art therapy and will either be a registered art therapist (ATR), a board certified art therapist (ATR-BC) or will be ATR-BC eligible (ATR-P), and will preferably have at least a year of post-masters experience as an art therapist.
