This is responsible professional level work in the coordination of a variety of Arts, Culture, and Tourism initiatives. Work involves developing, organizing, and implementing the City’s Arts, Culture, and Tourism functions; monitoring compliance with ongoing program requirements for the City’s Arts & Culture Grants Program, the City’s Public Arts Ordinance; and providing administrative support to the City’s Arts, Culture, and Tourism Office and various related committees and sub-committees. Work includes attending civic and public meetings to explain the City’s arts, cultural and international programs; scheduling and coordinating public meetings and providing any necessary reference materials; acting as Registrar of the City’s public art collection; and monitoring the City’s art collection for conservation and maintenance needs. Work requires excellent presentation skills, and sound judgment, tact, and professionalism due to the considerable public contact with outside agencies, commissions, committees, and the community. This position requires flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Salary: $55,682 - $88,774

To Qualify

Minimum Qualifications. Applicants must:

  • Have a valid Bachelor’s degree -or- in lieu of the degree, must have a valid high school diploma or GED equivalency combined with experience.
  • Have project management experience.
  • Be skilled in public speaking.
  • Possess excellent computer skills including at least an intermediate skill level in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Be able to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.
  • Be able to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Desirable Qualifications. Preferred applicants:

  • Have considerable knowledge of the community, especially in the arts.
  • Have interest in the arts and culture of the city, as well as international relations and the local international community.
  • Are able to exercise initiative and resourcefulness in facing present and future challenges and are able to mediate differences in opinions and foster community consensus on diverse issues.
