The Associated Students (AS) is a comprehensive campus auxiliary corporation of CSU, Chico serving thousands of students, faculty, staff and community members through myriad student programs, services and business enterprises. With an annual budget of more than $21M, the AS operates residential and retail dining services, the Bell Memorial Union, the Wildcat Recreation Center (WREC), and administers the contract for the Wildcat Store (bookstore). Additionally, the AS offers a wide variety of services and programs such as: CAVE (Community Action Volunteers in Education), Child Development Lab, Adventure Outings, Recycling, Sustainability and student government. The AS employs more than 100 full and part-time employees and more than 750 students.

The Associated Students is now hiring for the position of AS Ambassador. This is a part-time, non-benefited student position that will work no more than 20 hours per week while school is in session. The pay rate is $15.38 per hour. The schedule for this position is based upon department needs and is subject to change at any time. To be eligible for student employment, you must be enrolled at CSU, Chico with at least 6 units (undergraduate student) or 4 units (graduate student).

AS Ambassador

SUMMARY

The aim of the AS Ambassador position is to increase awareness and involvement for AS events and provide logistical and administrative support for AS programs within the Wildcat Leadership Center (WLC). AS Ambassadors will play a crucial role in creating a welcoming environment in the WLC, event outreach, supporting the front desk operations and logistical support during events.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Working directly under the supervision of the OPS Supervisor, this position will support programmatic goals through the following duties and tasks:

  • Greet individuals entering the Wildcat Leadership Center (WLC), creating a welcoming, inclusive, and equity minded environment affirming diverse identities and cultural backgrounds, while providing excellent customer service.
  • Educate individuals on the mission, purpose and values of the AS and the WLC, assist with promoting student engagement opportunities through connecting them to the programs and services designed to enhance their college experience.
  • Assist in the logistics of planning and implementing all active and passive AS events under the leadership and direction of AS Operational Programming and Services (OPS).
  • Serve as the lead strategic outreach planner for AS events planned within OPS and coordinate the successful communication, accountability, and execution of the plan.
  • Conduct daily outreach efforts to increase awareness, attendance, and participation in AS events through the centralized front desk and/or in support of the AS Ambassador program lead.
  • Manage and maintain a central calendar for programs within the AS, processing paperwork, managing room reservations, equipment check-out, appointments, and event coordination.
  • Develop intentional activities for students who come into the WLC that promote a positive atmosphere and increase awareness of involvement opportunities.
  • Maintain the organizational infrastructure in the WLC by updating office calendars and promotional materials, conducting routine opening/closing procedures, and keeping the work area clean and organized.
  • Perform basic clerical and administrative office tasks including: copying, filing, managing phone calls, scanning, organizing, etc.
  • Demonstrate organizational and time management skills.
  • Attend all AS programs coordinated by OPS when not in class. **Please note that some events will be held during weekends or after 5:00 p.m. throughout the year.
  • Attend mandatory staff meetings on Mondays from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
