Position Summary:

Assistant/Associate Professor of Kinesiology. This is a full time, tenure track position in the Kinesiology and Rehabilitation Science Department within the College of Education and Health. The position is supervised by the Department Head of Kinesiology and Rehabilitation Science.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Teach courses in Physical Education Teacher Education (Adapted Physical Education, secondary pedagogy)
• Advise students effectively at the undergraduate level.
• Engage students in high impact best practices in learning.
• Develop and maintain a scholarship program including seeking external funds to support high quality Physical Education.
• Provide impactful departmental, college, university, and professional services relevant to the university, community, and state.
• Collaborate with faculty and public school partners in the development, review, assessment, and improvement of departmental programs.
• Assist in promoting Health and Physical Education programs and recruiting students
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the department chair.

Minimum Requirements:

A doctorate or ABD in Kinesiology, Physical Education, Exercise Science, Adapted Physical Education, Motor Learning, Motor Development or closely related field required.

A minimum of two (2) years of U.S. public school teaching experience, K-12 preferred.

Applicable knowledge of secondary physical education pedagogy required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in college/university teaching particularly in Physical Education pedagogy (secondary level), Adapted Physical Education, Motor Learning, Motor Development or closely-related field preferred.

Experience in college online teaching preferred.

Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with faculty, interns/field-based participants, and school partners preferred.

Evidence of scholarly activity preferred.

Work Location, Environment, and Physical Demands:

The work location will be classrooms and gyms in Hull, or physical activity facilities on the ATU campus.

Physical demands include managing equipment for various activities, moving equipment, and participating in activities.

Computer use will be necessary.

Have and maintain the physical and mental abilities, communication skills, and stamina necessary to complete the essential functions of the position in teaching, research, scholarship, and service.
