As a member of the management team, the Assistant Relationship Manager plans, organizes, directs, and controls the day-to-day branch operations to ensure sales, service and operational goals are met. The Assistant Branch Relationship Manager actively seeks opportunities to introduce growth, sales, and operational efficiencies. This role is responsible for supporting the Branch Relationship Manager in transitioning from a traditional transactional model to a member advocacy relationship model. The Assistant Branch Relationship Manager coaches, trains and supervises branch staff, and implements the corporate mission, core values and long term objectives.

Essential Duties
:

  • Oversee the member experience ensuring that Branch Playbook guidelines are followed.
  • Manage daily operations of assigned branch at a level that produces a satisfactory audit rating.
  • Facilitate training on operational processes and ensure timely completion of training courses.
  • Model and observe branch service goals, analyze service level, and oversee methods to improve service.
  • Ensure branch compliance; implement methods to assure consistent compliance with required regulations and internal policies.
  • Communicate branch sales goals and effectively coach branch staff to achieve sales goals. Observe and provide feedback regarding methods to improve sales.
  • Motivate team members to focus on delivering exceptional member service, achieving organizational goals, and driving growth.
  • Participate in recruiting, hiring, and performance management of branch staff, including interviewing, hiring, training, evaluations, terminations.
  • Assist in associate development and engagement practices to effectively develop associates, identify areas for improvement, and facilitate appropriate coaching.
  • Deliver on action plans to improve sales achievement at assigned branch, ensure a consistent superior member service experience, improve operational processes and controls, and mitigate Credit Union losses.
  • Assist branch personnel as required to provide exceptional service.


Additional Duties:

  • Collaborate with other Departments to ensure smooth operation of the Credit Union.
  • Conduct periodic staff meetings to discuss challenges, ideas and changes in policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with lending staff to keep informed of changes in policies and procedures and to ensure that branch personnel are well trained in lending functions.
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge and procedural expertise in all functions to assist branch personnel and other Credit Union staff with operational problems.
  • Assist branch personnel by answering questions, solving problems, interpreting policies and helping with work related matters.
  • Conduct and ensure completion of periodic audits of teller cash drawers, branch vault & cash recyclers.
  • Utilize lending authority to make quality loan decisions.
  • Review/approve Consumer Loan and Membership Applications.
  • Assign, direct, coordinate, support and review work performed by branch staff.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of all transactions, documents and requests.
  • Ensure the accuracy, integrity and security of all cash and negotiable instrument inventory.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Experience:

  • 3 to 5 years of similar or related demonstrated managerial experience preferred.

  • 3 to 5 years of sales experience preferred.

  • Experience in a financial institution preferred.


Education:

Equivalent to a college degree (BS or BA in a relevant field) preferred.

A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is usually of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating, influencing or training others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • If driving for company business, must have a valid California driver’s license and proof of current insurance coverage.

  • Valid Notary Public license and proof of Notary bond coverage.

  • Valid registration through the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry as enacted and required by the Secure and Fair Enforcement (SAFE) for Mortgage Licensing Act.


Language Skills:

Fluent English language skills required. Ability to read, analyze, explain and interpret complex documents and concepts. Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints.
