Assistant Controller for Tire Factory/Point S

We are seeking an Assistant Controller to join our Tire Factory/Point S Tire team in Portland, OR!

Summary:

The Assistant Controller will provide support to the Chief Financial Officer in financial, cash and risk management operations to maximize cooperative member benefits and financial results. Maintaining accounting controls and providing accurate financial information to management and members to facilitate decision making.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

The requirements listed below are representative of characteristics and demonstrated capabilities sought to perform this job successfully.

  • Responsible for accurate and timely financial statements, oversight and review of balance sheet reconciliations, accounting policy reinforcement and adhering to the closing schedule at period end.
  • Provides relevant information and reporting to external firms in order to meet bank, tax and financial reporting deadlines.
  • Must monitor and analyze information and solve problems on a strategic and tactical level.
  • Must build positive working relationships with multiple levels of employee and management.
  • Must demonstrate integrity, professionalism and commitment to company values.
  • Monthly narrative analysis of significant financial variances to budget and forecast.
  • Participating in the annual financial budget process.
  • Providing training to non-financial personnel on internal control compliance, accounting procedures and financial statement review.
  • Knowledge of all financial and accounting transactions and experience with best practices to established standards and completed within targeted deadlines.
  • Lead cash forecasting processes and support regular monthly bank reporting requirements.
  • Lead and coordinate internal and external audit activities and requirements.
  • Lead and participate in special projects as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Competencies:

  • Possesses strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Possesses both a strong financial acumen and understanding of business processes to work in a collaborative cross functional environment.
  • Working knowledge of Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Preferred to have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics AX.
  • Must be hands on, self-directed, independent and resourceful.
  • A decisive results-oriented individual who is driven and motivated with a high-level of personal accountability.

Qualifications/Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or related field or combination of relevant education, experience, and training; strong knowledge of accounting and GAAP.
  • 4+ years of experience in accounting or related functions; demonstrated experience working with accounting systems and analyzing financial and operational data in Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and thrive in a fast-paced business environment; ability to handle multiple and competing priorities and requests; ability to work independently and with a team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to effectively communicate status, progress, and issues to senior team members.

Job Type: Full-time, Hybrid position primarily working remotely and periodically at the office.

Pay Range: $95,000 to $105,000, based upon experience.
