Assistant Director for Student Records Job at Manhattan College
Manhattan College seeks an Assistant Director for Student Records to provide functional and technical expertise to manage the student information systems associated with the Registrar’s Office (e.g., Degree Works and Banner). The Registrar’s office is dedicated to helping students achieve academic success, which includes a wide range of services related to registration, degree completion, and student records. The Assistant Director will support the Registrar’s Office and any activities related to monitoring and reporting student records.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the functional and technical lead on the development, implementation, and testing of Degree Works software, working with Registrar’s Office and Information Technology Services (ITS) staff
- Oversee and complete coding in Degree Works, using Scribe programming language, to accurately reflect student degree requirements and any curricular changes in consultation with academic departments (e.g., Assistant Deans)
- Provide oversight in the creation, improvement, and documentation of workflows related to student degree requirements
- Coordinates the graduation process with other Registrar staff to ensure that prospective graduates have been reviewed and meet the necessary requirements
- Manage, prepare, and administer reports related to student degree progress in collaboration with key administrative offices (e.g., Athletics, Center for Academic Success)
- Lead campus training for any new functionality for Degree Works or related systems
- Provide management and upkeep of Transfer Equivalency Database in Banner
- Serve on the Retention Committee, representing the Registrar’s Office, to ensure collaboration and communication about processes related to student retention and graduation
- Assist the Registrar and Associate Registrar with ad-hoc reports and processes on an as-needed basis.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline preferred.
- Two years of experience in a data-oriented role, preferably in a higher education setting.
- Experience working with student information systems (i.e., Ellucian Banner or similar). Strong preference is given to candidates with Scribe experience in Ellucian Degree Works.
- Working knowledge of database systems with the ability to code in SQL or other programming languages (R, Python, or SPSS).
- High level of proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint)
- Demonstrate effective interpersonal, organizational, written, and oral communication skills including excellent listening, written, and verbal abilities
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Interest in supporting the Lasallian Catholic Mission of the College
Anticipated Salary Range: $60,000 - $75,000
