Assistant Director of Academic Advising Job at New England College
- Coordinate and deliver academic advising services for students in assigned divisions, both residential and online;
- Advise students in assigned divisions on course and major selection, college policies, transition and transfer processes, individualized major development, and enhancing academic experiences and skills;
- Provide accurate information regarding courses of instruction, resources and college policies and procedures to internal and external constituencies;
- Develop trainings and support materials for faculty and staff about academic advising and advising resources;
- Prepare and deliver events and resources for faculty, staff and students in assigned areas related to academic advising including group advising, collaboration with departments and faculty advisors, first year programming, advising services, etc.;
- Collaborate with faculty advisors and departmental colleagues to provide seamless advising for students during registration periods and throughout their time at NEC;
- Maintain accurate notes from initial contact through graduation and project needs of assigned students;
- Review transfer credit evaluations and prepare preliminary degree evaluation and plans for completing remaining courses for assigned students within DegreeWorks;
- Aid in College wide retention efforts which promote student academic success and student engagement within the NEC community;
- Coordinate the withdrawal process for students including exit interviews, withdrawal notifications, and analysis of data for trends impacting retention;
- Organize the delivery of information to faculty in assigned division (s) regarding class attendance, mid-term progress, student absences through the collaboration of Navigate.
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 1-3 years’ experience in academic advising
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with Student Databases
- Excellent verbal, written, and organizational skills
- Strong counseling and interpersonal skills
- Master’s degree preferred
- SCT Banner knowledge preferred
