The Assistant Director is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day management of the program’s operations, including overseeing all teaching staff in the implementation of policies and procedures.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Takes over the duties of the Director, when Director is not on site
  • Assists with the recruiting, interviewing, and hiring processes for Children’s Program staff
  • Conducts monthly classroom inspections to ensure compliance with all licensing and accrediting regulations
  • Meets with each teaching team monthly to discuss classroom inspection findings, and provides constructive feedback and action plans (as necessary)
  • Manages weekly classroom coverage, ensuring proper ratios
  • Provides initial training for substitute/floating teachers in the Child Development Program and coordinates their work schedules weekly.
  • Oversees the processes associated with orientation, enrollment, and withdrawals of all children, in collaboration with the Receptionist and CDP Program Assistant
  • Conducts tours of the Child Development Programs as needed
  • Ensures the maintenance of children’s records in the program including paper files and data management systems.
  • Monitors student health-related absences and obtains releases to return
  • Records(log) and administers medication, in collaboration with the Director of CDP
  • Communicates communicable disease notices to parents
  • Supports and assists as needed with accreditation/rating processes with Quality Rated
  • In collaboration with the Director of CDP and other admin, assist in developing and implementing annual individualized staff development plans that equip staff to grow professionally
  • In collaboration with the Director of CDP and other admin, assist in the strategic planning process for the Child Development Program
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS

  • Must be able to lift, push, and pull a minimum of 50 pounds
  • Ability to reach, bend, and stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift from floor to chest level
  • Ability to sit on classroom floor and/or small chairs

EXPERIENCE AND/OR EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, or a related field
  • Three years of experience working with children and families in an Early Childhood setting
  • Knowledge of Bright From the Start rules and regulation
  • Knowledge of and well acquainted with the developmental needs and programmatic requirements of all children including those with disabilities

NOTICE: Selected candidates will have to undergo substance abuse screening and a background check. All staff are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $42,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
