Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma required and Post Secondary Education in nutrition or related field preferred
  • Background, child maltreatment, and fingerprint clearance (applicant responsible for costs)
  • Five years minimum administrative and supervisory work experience in food service.
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws regarding food preparation and service
  • Knowledge of operating ordering/procurement systems
  • Culinary experience


Job Description:

Under the direction of the Director of Child Nutrition Services Program in conformance with local, State and Federal Regulations and requirements. Expectations include working cooperatively in maintaining the food service program in an efficient and effective manner. Assist with Menu planning, facilities planning, and resource allocation.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Commits to working in a student-centered environment, evidencing enjoyment of working around children
  • Assist in continual improvements of the Child Nutrition Department, including but not limited to menu options, cafeteria environment, and culinary training of staff.
  • Models professionalism for all Child Nutrition Staff
  • Reports to work as scheduled on a regular and reliable basis
  • Contributes to a positive and productive work and school environment
  • Follow and maintain knowledge of all District policies
  • Works with the Child Nutrition Director to test, evaluate and establish recipes
  • Utilize government commodities according to federal guidelines and incorporate products into menus
  • Coordinate student taste tests and market school menus to support participation and increase customer satisfaction.
  • Supervise and evaluate the performance of Child Nutrition employees.
  • Assist the Director with the districts free and reduced program
  • Works as a team member within the child nutrition department and demonstrates leadership and vision in managing multiple campus food service facilities.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
  • Monitor production records and inventory management
  • Coordinate the purchase of child nutrition items in accordance with budgetary limitations
  • Collect money and maintain accurate records and filing systems for accountability and audit purposes
  • Be involved in the interview and hiring process of Child Nutrition Personel
  • Cooperate in all activities necessary for the best functioning of the school food service program.
  • Observe safety rules and report any accidents according to District policy.
  • Maintain an attitude of helpfulness toward fellow employees, students, and staff.
  • Cooperate fully with faculty, students, manager, and other employees.
  • Coordinate in-service training programs.
  • Perform any other duties/tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of the position as assigned, including responsibilities, use of skills, duties, requirements, efforts, functions, etc, not specifically listed but necessary to support the development of the Child Nutrition Department
