Today we remain the leader in the design, manufacture and supply of these safety and convenience mats for both residential and commercial customers. Commercial mats are manufactured at the headquarters in Doraville, GA. Residential mats are made at our factory in Mexico. This position is based at the headquarters facilities. Job description
The Assistant Engineer will be the full-time support person providing technical and administrative support to the Engineering Manager. This will involve a wide range of duties from sourcing materials, drawing custom parts, fabricating prototypes, designing & conducting tests, and writing standard procedures. A good fit for this position would be someone who loves to tinker with mechanical and electrical stuff, to create innovative solutions that make life better! This is also an excellent growth opportunity.

Essential Job Responsibilities

• Research material and component specifications, availability, and pricing
• Evaluate new material and component characteristics
• Design and construct prototypes of new & improved products
• Assist in troubleshooting & solving product and process problems
• Develop new & improved manufacturing processes

Misc Job Responsibilities

• Provide support to our new Safety & Health Program.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with 3.0 GPA minimum
• Strong organization and technical problem-solving skills
• Able to read, speak and write English fluently.
• Able to understand instructions and work with minimal supervision.
• Proficiency using math, a PC and current Microsoft Office Suite.
• Good mechanical skills; able to learn use of basic shop tools
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds and move independently throughout our campus

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field, or some technical college courses completed, with 3.0

GPA minimum

• Experience using basic shop power tools, electrical systems, adhesives, manual and automated manufacturing equipment
• Able to make hand or CAD engineering drawings
