Some of what you'll be doing:
As the Assistant Manager, Airport Communications Center (ACC) in our Aviation Operations department, you will supervise, lead, and oversee the day-to-day operations, of a team of Senior Operations Controllers (SOC), on a shift in the Airport Communication Center.
- You will serve as a subject matter expert, providing guidance and supervision to front line staff.
- You will provide leadership and management of day-to-day workflow, staffing, and scheduling to achieve targeted operational results.
- You will ensure completion of job required tasks, including required maintenance trouble calls, alarm response monitoring, common use resource scheduling, satellite train system functions, and safety/risk reporting.
- You will understand, monitor, and enforce the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.
- You will be the key point of communication, while on duty, maintains strong relationships and communications with all stakeholders, both internal and external to the Port.
- You will respond to stakeholder feedback with timely solutions, keeping the Manager and Airport Duty Manager informed, and escalates to higher levels of leadership as needed or required.
- You will maintain situational awareness keeping a wholistic eye on all aspects Operations at SEA and facilitate communication across multiple work groups to maintain continuity of operations.
- You will accurately and succinctly communicate with Senior Port Leadership during operationally impactful and emergency incidents, including, but not limited to snow or other hazardous weather conditions, airfield incidents, threats, terrorism, drone intrusions, and any other incidents that impact people or operational integrity at SEA.
- You will maintain situational awareness of AV Operations activities, airport wide, and coordinates activities with any airport entity including internal and external stakeholders.
- You will assist the manager to design and implement training for all front-line employees and onboarding/new hire training and recurrent training.
- You will assist in change management, as new solutions emerge from third party vendors and various projects that impact front line user procedures and processes within the work group.
- You will develop strong relationships with other Aviation departments and airport tenants, government agencies and gain a deep understanding of their needs and solicits and incorporates feedback/buy-in/expertise towards the ACC programs and processes.
- You will strategically collaborate across the Airport to ensure safe operations in compliance with federal, state, and Port regulations and policy.
Who you are:
Two years of experience may be substituted for one year of education:
- Experienced – You have two (2) years of experience working in an Airport Communications Center, Aviation Security Operations, Airport Operations and/or with air carrier and cargo operations with represented staff.
- Educated – You possess an Associates degree.
- Desired – We hope you have Bachelor’s degree in aviation or related field and five (5) years of experience supervising a team of 3-5 represented employees in shift environment, developing and implementing training and communicating with senior leadership during irregular operations and emergency incidents.

What else you need to know
:
- Work Schedule – You may be required to work any and all assigned shifts, including weekends and holidays. You may be required to work during emergencies.
- Work Environment – You will primarily work in an office environment.
- Washington State Residency Requirement – Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.
- COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement – Effective, November 15, 2021, the Port of Seattle will require that at the time of hire, and as a condition of employment, the successful candidate will be able to provide proof of their full COVID-19 vaccination status, as part of the hiring process. This is a condition of employment for all positions at the Port of Seattle. People are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after their second dose in a two-dose series or two weeks after a single-dose vaccine. Prior to employment, candidates may make requests for a reasonable accommodation based on a medical disability or for sincerely held religious beliefs. - Security Requirements – As the successful candidate, you must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check as well as a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Your employment will be contingent upon obtaining a Port of Seattle ID badge upon clearance. You will also be required to obtain a U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) Customs Seal within 30 days of hire.
