JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Department of English at Langston University invites applications for a non-tenure track position as Assistant Professor of English with appointment to begin Fall 2022.

Non-Tenure track (NTT) position in English. Areas of preferred emphasis include composition studies, strategies and methods for teaching writing, critical pedagogy, rhetorical theory, and writing program administration. Areas of preferred secondary emphasis include social justice writing; professional and technical writing; histories of rhetoric; feminist or women's rhetorics; ethnic rhetorics, etc.

The appointee will be expected to teach several general education composition courses every semester, as well as some upper division composition or literature courses. The appointee will also develop courses in their specialties, particularly at the senior levels. Faculty teach a 5/4 course load. Evidence of an active research agenda and high-quality teaching is required.

Education & Experience

Position Qualifications:

Minimum

• Ph.D. in English, Composition and Rhetoric, or a related field is required by August 2022. ABDs must show evidence of degree completion prior to appointment.

Preferred:

• Training and/or experience in composition pedagogy
• Expertise in one or more of the following subfields: social justice writing; professional and technical writing; histories of rhetoric; LBGT rhetorics; feminist or women's rhetorics; ethnic rhetorics.
