Basic Purpose
Responsibilities
- Plans, organizes, and supervises the day-to-day activities of the Collections staff, daily production, and quality of work.
- Ensures Collections activities comply with Federal, state, and industry regulations and Navy Federal policies, procedures, and guidelines
- Assists the Supervisor in developing strategies to resolve collections related issues and to develop standards, objectives, priorities, and alternatives for the section
- Analyzes work quality, work methods, procedures, processes, production standards, and production statistics; identifies areas of improvement, determines solutions, and implements enhancements/changes to improve operations, standards, and results
- Reviews and adjusts workload; oversees staff availability throughout the day to ensure member service standards are met
- Monitors and provides guidance to staff regarding communications with members; effective member counseling techniques; effective use of collection tools; and best courses of action
- Reviews staff recommendations for account extensions, refinances, loan modifications, and PFM referrals
- Ensures efficiency of operations and work accuracy.
- Reviews and enforces guidelines of loss mitigation, repossession, and Quality Assurance
- Responds to escalated member collections issues; provides counseling to members regarding budgeting, financial planning, and asset disposal to mitigate financial hardships
- Ensures required member correspondence adheres to operational timelines and procedures
- Collaborates with the Supervisor to ensure adherence to delinquency policies, procedures, and reporting requirements
- Assists in the analysis, testing, and implementation of new automated systems
- Maintains knowledge of Federal and state laws, industry regulations and practices, and Navy Federal policies and procedures related to collections and loss mitigation
- Performs supervisory duties.
- Ensures adequate daily staffing, initiates performance appraisals, rewards, and counsels employees
- Assists in the selection of employees and makes budgetary recommendations regarding equipment and staffing needs
- Conducts training and development sessions for all aspects of consumer and credit card collections; disseminates information and procedural changes to staff
- Conducts call audit reviews and forwards findings to supervisor
- Participates on special projects and acts as Supervisor in the incumbent’s absence
- Performs other duties as assigned or appropriate.
Qualifications
- Progressively responsible technical or administrative experience which provided knowledge of consumer loan and credit card collection policies and practices and skill in applying these to the collections of delinquent loans
- Thorough knowledge of state and Federal laws affecting the collection of delinquent consumer loan and credit card, bankruptcy, settlements, repossessions, charge-off, and loss mitigation activities
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including the ability to persuade, negotiate, and counsel members
- Ability to interpret and communicate instructions, regulations, and procedures
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and ability to manage and prioritize multiple duties simultaneously to achieve project goals
- Demonstrated organizational, planning, analytical, problem solving, and decision making skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, solve problems, and exercise initiative and sound judgment
- Proficiency in the use of PCs and related software
- College level courses with concentration in accounting, electronic data processing, finance, business, or related field
- Working knowledge of consumer loan and credit card collections systems and other related Navy Federal systems
- Familiarity with Navy Federal’s objectives, policies, and procedures
Hours: Monday - Friday, 10:00AM - 6:30PM

Salary Range: $28.50 - $35.50 hourly
Navy Federal Credit Union assesses market data to establish salary ranges that enable us to remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range, based on your experience, location and market position.
