Associate Director of DMin Program Job at Asbury Theological Seminary

Position Summary:

Collaborates with the D.Min. Director, the Associate Provost of Lifelong Learning (APLL), faculty, and EMT regarding new cohort development. Advises D.Min. students through completion of their academic courses and dissertations, as well as payment of tuition and fees. Oversees the ongoing selection and training of Dissertation Coaches. Co-leads D.Min. residencies, specifically, orientation and dissertation instruction.


Essential Functions
:

  • Co-develops new cohorts with the Director, APLL, EMT, and faculty (online, in-person, and international sites)
  • Leads off-site cohorts as needed
  • Serves as Academic Advisor for all D.Min. students
    • Monitors academic progress of all D.Min. students from program start through graduation
    • Cooperates with the Registrars Office on academic affairs related to the D.Min. Program such as academic petitions, independent study contracts, alternate degree plans, etc.
    • Serves as liaison to the Business Office regarding student payments and billing questions
    • Creates annual research and academic timelines for each cohort
  • Co-teaches with the Director first, second, and third-year students in researching and writing a D.Min. dissertation
  • Recruits faculty and D.Min. alumni to serve as Dissertation Coaches; matches them with students; trains and advises first-time Coaches with the Director
  • Serves as a Dissertation Coach
  • Conducts one-on-one student Chapter 1 dissertation consultations
  • Reviews and approves dissertations: Chapter 1; Chapters 1-3 + IRB materials before IRB submission; Chapters 1-5 before graduation
    • Equips Dissertation Review Team for all of the above
  • Collaborates with the Institutional Review Board to secure IRB approval for each project
  • Develops home page for, and oversees, D.Min. online academic classrooms
  • Collaborates with Director, Associate VP of EMT, and the D.Min. Enrollment Specialist in marketing, recruitment, admissions process, and scholarship offers
  • Participates in online and in-person marketing/recruiting events as needed
  • Collaborates with the Director and APLL to create long-term strategic plan
  • Coordinates with multiple Seminary offices assisting D.Min. Program and students
  • Represents D.Min. concerns in the absence of the Director


Other Responsibilities
:

  • Ability to travel and work evenings/weekends during residencies


Financial Responsibility/Authority:

  • Assists Director and APLL with annual budgets
  • Co-creates annual Operational Plan with D.Min. Team

Tools & Equipment:

Fax machine, photocopier, phone/voicemail, computer, basic computer software (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Zoom, Canvas LMS, and data management software (i.e., FileMaker Pro)

Education/Experience/Skills:

  • Terminal degree (D.Min. preferred, Ph.D./Ed.D. or other relevant professional doctorate accepted)
  • Substantial pastoral/ministry experience
  • Experience in or with a postgraduate program
  • A maturing and contagious Christian experience and a commitment to Wesleyan doctrine and experiences defined in the statement of faith and the ATS ethos statement
  • A shared vision of Asbury Theological Seminary as a center for world Wesleyan leadership
  • A commitment to Christian leaders serving around the world
  • Demonstrated skills in written and oral communication
  • Effective public speaking, hospitality, and relational skills
  • Ability to create effective partnerships/collaborations internally and externally
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated
