WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER


The Associate Director, Web develops and implements TNC’s Web strategy, and is responsible for maintaining up-to-date, meaningful, and engaging content across TNC’s global website properties. They are responsible for the successful coordination, production and management of web pages and landing page updates that support TNC’s multiple business units. They work closely with the Conservancy’s Marketing teams to drive towards achievement of business goals while elevating the Conservancy’s brand as best in class.

As Associate Director, Web, you will:

  • Lead TNC website strategy to engage target audiences with timely and relevant content that strategically communicates the mission of our global organization, helps to drive membership, and delivers on the Marketing and Communications (MAC) division’s goals.
  • Oversee, respond to, and completes Nature.org content requests from across the organization in a timely fashion.
  • Manage content production, including articles, videos, digital landing pages and related assets for Nature.org.
  • Champion the development and deployment of TNC’s Spanish language digital content strategy. Assists in the development of a multi-lingual content roadmap.
  • Maintain and optimize key webpages to ensure clear and strategic content for our audiences in partnership with cross-functional teams including membership, development, analytics, editorial, creative, youth engagement, brand partnerships, and the magazine; guides channel standards.
  • Manage 4 or more professional staff and be accountable for achievement of team business and professional development goals and objectives.
  • Coordinate and manage a Nature.org and homepage editorial calendar in partnership with the Editorial and Content Team
  • Review, edit, and guide TNC’s suite of global websites to ensure appropriate and updated content, and a consistent level of content strategy across all external digital channels.
  • Manage a global community of web authors, including leading an author educational series and call in order to ensure adoption of governance standards and procedures.
  • Think creatively and critically to identify new opportunities for meaningful impact throughout various marketing team initiatives.
  • Coordinate with analytics team to determine content effectiveness, execute meaningful reporting and optimize content based on performance.
  • Lead, maintain and share website content strategy and governance standards to operationalize best practices for creating and managing high quality content at scale.
  • Work in coordination with UX designers, SEO specialist, technical leads, and digital strategists on website updates to drive proper SEO implementation, content strategy, and analytics tracking from the ground up.
  • Assist with administration of budget, evaluates results and develops corrective strategies, as needed.
  • Bear responsibility and accountability for meeting strategic goals and objectives.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field and a minimum of 8 years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience supervising staff and teams.
  • Experience cultivating and managing stakeholder relationships.
  • Experience developing marketing strategies and measuring results.


Desired Qualifications:

  • Multi-lingual skills appreciated.
  • Multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience preferred.
  • Experience managing a consumer-facing web site and increasing its reach and influence.
  • Digital fundraising experience, driving memberships or donations for a nonprofit organization.
  • Experience using data to make informed decisions on digital strategies and marketing campaigns to reach specific and varied audiences.
  • Experience developing user journeys, content funnels and cycles, personalized web experiences and audience segmentation.
  • Experience building and maintaining a strong team culture with a positive, productive, and inclusive work environment where employees feel valued and happy in their careers.
  • Appreciation for human-focused storytelling that engages audiences and compels them to act.
  • Ability to adjust to changing market conditions or organizational priorities, and pivot strategies and projects to meet demands.
  • Adept at operating a high level in a fast-paced environment with the ability to make judgment calls and respond tactfully in all situations.
  • Understanding of web site taxonomy and best practices.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate ideas and balance the needs of stakeholders.
  • Results-driven with strong editorial judgment and ability to identify and focus on strategic priorities based on content performance.
  • Detail-oriented, independent and well organized with a blend of technical and conceptual skills.
  • Expert knowledge of current and evolving trends in the digital space.
  • Demonstrated ability in managing budgets.
  • Experience with digital content management systems and digital asset managers.
  • Practical knowledge and strong awareness of current and evolving digital user experiences.
  • Experience in managing content for the web and a thorough understanding of responsive design, HTML5, and CSS3. Strong familiarity with web accessibility principles, including section 508 and WCAG 2.0.
  • A strong understanding of informational architecture practices.
