Athletic Director Job at Peninsula Catholic High School
Peninsula Catholic High School in Newport News, Virginia is seeking an Athletic Director. This position is charged with organizing and facilitating a comprehensive athletic program to support the school’s needs.
Responsibilities and Tasks: Athletic Director’s primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assumes responsibility for all athletic programs;
- Keeps the Principal informed of matters related to the school’s athletic program;
- Assumes responsibility for all athletic coaches, teams, facilities, and programs;
- Ensures that coaches are compliant with viewing the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens training and other Diocesan requirements for employment, including background checks and VIRTUS training;
- Ensures that students do not have access to school athletic facilities except when appropriate adult supervision is available;
- Delegates some responsibilities, but remains in overall charge of and responsible for all programs;
- Prepares and implements the annual Athletic Department budget submission;
- Schedules use of school athletic facilities for the entire school year;
- Sets up and makes arrangements for home events both on and off campus;
- Makes a daily survey of the athletic facilities;
- Schedules officials, security, etc. for home athletic events;
- Attends faculty and other meetings as directed by the Principal;
- Monitors student eligibility to participate in the athletic program and advise coaches accordingly;
- Selects and evaluates qualified coaches;
- Conducts fundraising to meet budgeted expenses.
Professional Qualifications:
- Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree is required;
- Must possess professional oral and written communication skills;
- Familiar with budget preparation;
- Able to manage others; be positive, efficient, and prompt.
In addition to specific responsibilities listed, a person in this position handles other tasks as they emerge and performs other duties as assigned; assumes such other relevant position-related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Principal; and serves as chair or member of other committees/councils as may be specified by the Principal.
Performance Appraisal: The Principal will conduct a performance appraisal annually in the spring of each academic year.
Working Conditions: The position is a twelve-month position beginning July 1 of each academic year and ending June 30.
Physical Demands: The position requires assisting in preparing fields and courts for play, heavy lifting, pushing, and pulling and operation of heavy equipment.
FLSA Status: Position is exempt from the overtime and timekeeping provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
