Certified Athletic Trainer - Brookwood School

Brookwood School is an independent, co-educational, college-preparatory day school that offers superior educational opportunities to qualified students from Junior Kindergarten through the 12th grade. Founded in 1970, Brookwood’s 43-acre campus is located south of Thomasville, Ga. Brookwood fields 15 varsity teams in the Fall, Winter, and Spring. This will be the 8th year of having an Athletic Trainer on campus daily.

Position Title: Athletic Trainer

Reports To: Athletic Director under the Supervision of the Team Physician

Qualifications:

Required

Education: Completion of Bachelor’s or Master’s CAATE accredited athletic training program.

Certification/Licenses: Must be BOC Certified and possess state athletic training licensure or be eligible to apply. Newly certified athletic trainers are encouraged to apply.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Applied Knowledge: Athletic trainers must have knowledge about a large range of medical problems. Assessment and evaluation skills and the ability to work with team doctors.
• Decision Making Skills: Ability to think critically and make independent decisions regarding the assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and return to play decisions per state licensure guidelines.
• Attention to Detail: should be thorough and detailed with injury tracking to include accident reports for insurance purposes and injury reports to coaches.
• Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate effectively in high stress/pressure situations when talking to patients, medical professionals, staff, and families.
• Must have the ability to organize, prioritize, and perform multiple tasks with little or no supervision.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

• Expected to cover all home events for all levels of athletics while only requiring travel to away games for varsity football.
• Establish and maintain a budget for athletic training supplies/equipment.
• Establish daily hours of operation for the athletic training facility.
• Gain knowledge of Brookwood’s Medical Policies and Procedures and Specific Emergency Action Plans. Suggest revisions to the Athletic Director.
• Hold a Saturday morning black and blue clinic after each Friday night football game. Submit injury reports to the Head Football Coach by Saturday evening.
