Position Summary:

Tyto Athene has an opening for an Avionics Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron ONE (VQ-1) aircraft. The position is aboard Naval Air Station (NAS) Whidbey Island, WA.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform integration and test of aircraft avionics software, hardware, and firmware
  • Serve as the VQ-1 Avionics SME for special collection systems/suites and provide liaison with Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR).
  • Perform Organization Level (O-Level) avionics maintenance to include troubleshooting to the Weapons Replacement Assembly (WRA) level.
  • Coordinate with squadron and U.S. Navy logistics entities for shipping/repairing/replacing WRAs.
  • Provide both User and Maintainer training for VQ-1 special collection avionics suites.
  • Provide configuration management of ground and aircraft mission drives.
  • Review VQ-1 Avionics Technical Data Publications (TDPs), Avionics Systems requirements documentation, Interface Control Documents (ICDs), and training material.

Qualifications:

  • Active Secret or Interim Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI

  • Candidate must have a strong knowledge of VQ-1 aircraft avionics systems (hardware, firmware, and software).

Desired Skills/Experience:

  • Experience as both an Operator and Maintainer of VQ-1 Special Collection Suites
  • Familiarity with Information Assurance (IA) and Cyber Security (CS) requirements for classified networks
  • Proficiency in MS Office and MS Project. Knowledge of NAVAIR technical documentation process.

Location:Whidbey Island, WA

Travel:Travel is required to support meetings and field testing of aircraft avionics systems/suites.
