Wholesale Business Banker

The Business Banker has an overall responsibility for managing a portfolio of small business and government guaranteed loans.
They are expected to grow the portfolio through the solicitation of new loans (from existing customers and business owners) as well as establish new key relationships and increase their book of business.

• The Business Banker will perform regularly scheduled business development calls and promote F&M Bank’s services including Treasury Management and Retail products
• He/she uses strong negotiating skills while discussing credit opportunities and to negotiate fees and interest rates
• This individual actively applies their understanding of commercial lending policies, programs and procedures to best meet the needs of their clients
• The Business Banker performs overall maintenance on existing loans to ensure compliance and is responsible for understanding quality of the credit portfolio and making credit solution recommendations, ensuring an accurate risk rating
• Reports to Commercial Market Manger and works directly with the Wholesale team

Who are we looking for?

• Someone with solid skills in soliciting new business; provides excellent follow-through from start to finish during the preliminary credit analysis, as well as during the entire loan process and bookings of new small business loans
• A top-notch, personable communicator who is customer-focused and demonstrates the ability to expand and develop effective business relationships; builds trust with clients and potential clients by listening and uncovering their needs while also educating the client on all bank products and services offered
• Someone to work closely with credit administrators and other support personnel to assure high level of quality in each credit application presented for approval
• A person with a demonstrated knowledge of banking institution concepts, who follows federal and state regulations and laws and understands complex financial statements from various types of businesses
• A strategic team-player that discusses concepts, issues, opportunities, and challenges with Senior Management to ensure adherence to credit policies and procedures

Also required:

• Successful completion of a credit check is a condition of employment
• Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Minimum of 2-5 years of previous experience in a similar role, in a banking environment
• Superb written and verbal communication skills with emphasis on correct English grammar
• Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment, initiative and tact in dealing with management, supervisors, staff and the general public; must present a professional, business-like manner and appearance

Pay: $90,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year
