Dakota Bakery is a certified Kosher Parve bakery retail and wholesale baking company located in the heart of West Bloomfield, Michigan. Dakota Bakery has been open since October 2020 since Friendship Circle has purchased it to assist with their foundation core values offering the famous Dakota challah bread and an expanding Jewish craft menu all made from scratch. Dakota Bakery is a baking company dedicated to excellence in artisan principles and we are looking for individuals who may share this vision to join our team so that we can continue to uphold our reputation of being a supplier of the highest quality bread, pastries, pies, cookies, and so much more!

We are looking to make a full-time and part-time additions to our bread team. Just as all positions within our bakery are essential to success, those who work the bread table, mixers, and ovens play a vital role in the production of our wide variety of high-quality bread. Experience with bread or baking is a plus but is not required in order to be considered for this position. We are hiring someone to fill the counter position which is where interacting with customers in person and on the phone in a friendly, helpful and courteous manner. Starting pay is $13.00 per hour until 90 day review is conducted.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

*This position requires availability that has no restrictions during holiday seasons. This shift is 6am-2pm

You are the point person at the front of the store for building orders at the Point of Sale, suggestive selling, cash handling, and interacting with customers. You are an expert at delivering exceptional face to face interactions.

Main responsibilities of a Bakery Sales Associate:

• Managing transactions, making sure pricing is accurate
• Accepting payments and providing receipts
• Bagging purchased goods
• Work with special needs bakers and trainees

Other Responsibilities of a Bakery Sales Associate:

• Greeting customers when entering and leaving the premises
• Managing transactions using a cash register
• Balancing the cash register
• Accepting payments in cash, credit or check
• Providing change and receipts
• Issuing coupons and gift cards
• Bagging and wrapping purchased goods for safe transport

Taking special orders

Explaining ingredients and products to customers

Bakery and Cafe Sales Associate Job Requirements:

• Must have at least a high school degree
• Experience with POS systems and cash registers
• Basic computer knowledge
• Good math skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Work according to tight production schedules
• Assist with bread/pastry production as needed
• Following product specifications set forth by owners and management
• Abide by proper storage and product rotation procedures
• Work in an organized and timely fashion to facilitate the day's production/piece count
• Cleaning bakery machinery, equipment, storage and preparation areas
• Perform quality control measures/inspections and separate product that is sub-par
• Team spirit, with a customer-focused positive attitude

Success in this Position is Generally Exhibited by those who:

• Are able to stand, walk, lift 30-50 lbs, and bend somewhat repetitively for the duration of an 8-hour shift
• Work safely in a bakery production environment which includes hot ovens, sharp utensils, and heavy equipment
• Display high levels of motivation, autonomy, and attention to detail
• Are aware of the physical demands of this position as it is labor-intensive and involves repetitive motion
• Are comfortable with working in warmer than normal working conditions with temperatures anywhere between 82 and 90 degrees during summer months
• Make it a priority to arrive at work on-time with little to no absences or punctuality issues. The nature of this position is heavily reliant on our staff's ability to come to work and execute the day to day responsibilities required of them
• Have a reputation for being an excellent team member who is able to work alongside others and assist others when needed. Our work environment is heavily focused on the ability to work as a team!
