POSITION: Banquet Cook

STATUS: Part-time/Hourly

DEPARTMENT: Food & Beverage

REPORTS TO: Executive Chef

POSITION CONCEPT:

To serve the Mission, Vision and Values of REH, Inc. by preparing food to the exact specifications of the Executive Chef and properly maintaining food work stations in a catering environment. This position plays a critical role in maintaining and enhancing guest satisfaction.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Set up and stocking stations with all necessary supplies
• Understanding of a catering environment
• Prepare food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces)
• Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff
• Answer, report and follow executive or sous chef’s instructions
• Clean up station and take care of leftover food
• Stock inventory appropriately
• Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion
• Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
• Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

• High School diploma required. Culinary school diploma preferred.

Experiences:

• Proven experience with various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures
• Two years experience as a prep cook or similar work in a professional kitchen.
• Catering experience preferred.

Demonstrated Skills or Knowledge:

• Attention to details and able to work in a high pressure environment.
• Exceptional customer service skills
• General knowledge of safety and sanitary best practices.
• Proficient in email and internet communication.
• Demonstrated commitment to the principles of teamwork and shared responsibility.
• Ability to multi-task and meet simultaneous deadlines.
• Ability to relate to a diverse group of people.
• Ability to communicate effectively and persuasively both orally and in writing.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
• Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and stand for periods of time.
• Ability to drive.
• Ability to maintain good attendance is a condition of employment and a function of this position.
